Great American Cooking
This book has a wonderful diversity of recipes, all fairly easy to prepare with ingredients that are easy to get. It's certainly attractive enough for a coffee table book, and the pictures are enough to get anyone's appetite going. Because of the recipes, though, it lives in my kitchen, and more than one page has got stains on it from use. I recommend the macaroni and cheese!

Great Value!
I have never seen a one-volume dictionary of psychology that comes close to this book in its exhaustive coverage of topics in the field of psychology. It seems like every time I see a book with the word "Oxford" on the cover it's a sure bet that I'm going to give it five stars. Although I haven't read the entire book (who reads a whole dictionary?) I won't rule out doing so in the future.

Undiscovered cuisine made easy.
Great book for learning one of the Mediterranean's best (yet least known) cuisines. Highly recommended.

Buy this book and eat your way through Catalonia
Catalan cuisine is ancient. It earliest roots go all the way back to the Romans who occupied northeastern Spain. It uses many of the same ingredients as other Mediterranean cuisines -- tomatoes, eggplant, garlic, beans, pasta and all kinds of meat -- but it combines them in unexpected ways. Who would expect salt cod with honey, for example? Catalan cuisine has it, and Colman Andrews presents ...

Got me through my doctorate
This isn't a complete book on SPSS and statistics, but it's a marvelous resource for punching in your numbers and reading the results. It takes you step-by-step through entering data, setting up your analyses, and interpreting your results. I loaned this to another grad student friend of mine, and it took me months to get it back--it's that useful to have on hand whenever you get stuck with ...

Good introduction with little math!
The author says that "the primary aim of this book is to provide a critical survey of the essential ideas of game theory and the findings of experimental research on strategic interaction." (pp. ix) And he does it all! This is a very good introduction to game theory, especially for social/political scientists or for students who want to understand game theory without diving into a lot of ...
