Miss Holly Is Too Jolly! 2 reviews Dan Gutman
Topeka Bindery, 2006
'Miss Holly Is Too Jolly' will leave readers ho-ho-ho-ing long into the night! Miss Holly is one weird teacher. For one, she teaches languages in what is called a language lab, yet there are no mad scientists hanging about. Two, she's constantly wearing a bowl of fruit on her head and dancing around in a very strange, and embarrassing fashion. And three, she's decided to hang mistletoe about all over her classroom, which must mean that she wants all of the boys and girls to ...

Casey Back at Bat 6 reviews Dan Gutman
HarperTrophy, 2009
4 1/2 A Screwball Twist on a Classic Story As Spring training approaches, many kids will focus on the game of baseball. Adults, nostalgic about the sport in its more pristine state, may grab a DVD of "Field of Dreams," or search for a version of Ernest Thayer's classic ballad, "Casey at the Bat." `Casey' has been re-tooled many times, most notably by Patricia Polacco in her Little League Version, and illustrator Christoper Bing's ...

Jackie & Me (Baseball Card Adventure) 44 reviews Dan Gutman
Recorded Books, 2004
Outstanding By RB from North Boulevard The book I am reading is Jackie and Me. It is written by Dan Gutman. I think this book deserves five stars because it has real events but at the same time its fiction. It's about a kid who travels back in time to meet Jackie Robinson. But the next thing he knows he gets stuck back in time. So the next thing he tricked ant a bat boy to give his Ken Griffin Jr. Card back the key to get back to ...

Million Dollar Goal Twins Dawn and Dusk Rosenburg live for hockey and worship the Montreal Canadians. But their dad hates the game and their foul-mouthed grandmother thinks the twins should be doing homework and chores instead of wasting time shooting pucks.
When Dawn and Dusk's dad gets the family tickets to the next Canadians game, they cant believe their luck. I think this is the book for sports fans. I give ...

Mr. Klutz Is Nuts! (My Weird School) 6 reviews Dan Gutman
Turtleback Books Distributed by Demco Media, 2004
An awesome book of my favourite school I really enjoyed this book. I would love to have a principal like Mr Klutz because he would do really funny things and if we studied extremely hard he would give us very interesting field trips. I think this is better than the first book (Miss Daisy is Crazy) because it has more interesting ideas for example in the first book AJ made Mr Klutz wear a gorilla outfit and change the school into a ...

Shoeless Joe & Me (Baseball Card Adventure) 32 reviews Dan Gutman
Turtleback Books Distributed by Demco Media, 2003
Great Time-Travel Book Shoeless Joe and Me is one of my favorite books! The book is about a kid who can Time-Travel by using Baseball Cards. He tries to go back in time to stop the Black Sox Scandal. The Black Sox Scandal was when 8 players on the White Sox were tricked by gamblers into losing the 1919 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds on purpose.
Even if you don't like Baseball, I'm sure you will love this ...

Mrs. Cooney Is Loony! (My Weird School) 1 review Dan Gutman
Turtleback Books Distributed by Demco Media, 2005
My students love this series! I teach second grade and my students LOVE this series. We read Books #1 and #3 out loud. We listen to Books #2 and #4 on audiotape. By then the kids are so excited with the series that they can't wait to read the rest of the series. I highly recommend them. They are great with predictions because of their repetitive sayings.

It Ain't Cheating If You Don't Get Caught 1 review Dan Gutman
Penguin (Non-Classics), 1990
Funny! I got this book when it was published oh so many years ago. The book is full of all sorts of stories about how to cheat in baseball. Just like in life, cheaters always get caught (well, usually anyway).
This book covers a lot of the big cheats - Gaylord Perry and his Vaseline ball, Eddie Stanky and the Stanky Manoeuver, along with a bunch of other funny and interesting characters.
Too bad ...

Topeka Bindery, 2000
Best of Dan Gutman Our fifth graders have overwhelming chosen this book as their all time favorite. We have been reading it for 2 years now, and the class reaction is always the same. It's such a shame that it wasn't promoted as well as Dan's other books. It is definitely his best.

Funny Boy Meets the Airsick Alien from Andromeda (L.A.F.) 1 review Dan Gutman
Tandem Library, 2000
Laugh out loud funny! My son is 9 years old, plays video games until he drops and cannot sit still. That is until he found the Funny Boy books. He can't get enough of them. We are constantly hearing him read out loud. In fact these are the first books that he actually finished outside of school.
The writing is fast-paced and witty. But not dumbed down kid- style funny, it is humor that everyone can appreciate.

My Weird School Daze!: Books 1 to 4 (My Weird School) 1 review Dan Gutman
HarperCollins, 2007
Perfect for the reluctant reader! Have a child that refuses to read? I find that the "My Weird School Series" by Dan Gutman can get even the most difficult child to become an avid reader. (Especially if your child doesn't like school.) The writing is creative, smooth flowing, hilarious and an easy read.
I introduced this series to my students (I'm a librarian) who loved it so much I now can't keep it on the shelves. The only ...
