Shoeless Joe and Me is one of my favorite books! The book is about a kid who can Time-Travel by using Baseball Cards. He tries to go back in time to stop the Black Sox Scandal. The Black Sox Scandal was when 8 players on the White Sox were tricked by gamblers into losing the 1919 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds on purpose.

My students love this series!
I teach second grade and my students LOVE this series. We read Books #1 and #3 out loud. We listen to Books #2 and #4 on audiotape. By then the kids are so excited with the series that they can't wait to read the rest of the series. I highly recommend them. They are great with predictions because of their repetitive sayings.

mr. krups cracks me up
my grandson is an advid reader and likes silly titles and books. he had this book read in one day and asked if he could get more of the series. I told him I'd get them for him. he has a wicked sense of humor and to watch him read and giggle though a story is heartwarming.

I got this book when it was published oh so many years ago. The book is full of all sorts of stories about how to cheat in baseball. Just like in life, cheaters always get caught (well, usually anyway).
This book covers a lot of the big cheats - Gaylord Perry and his Vaseline ball, Eddie Stanky and the Stanky Manoeuver, along with a bunch of other funny and interesting characters.

Our fifth graders have overwhelming chosen this book as their all time favorite. We have been reading it for 2 years now, and the class reaction is always the same. It's such a shame that it wasn't promoted as well as Dan's other books. It is definitely his best.

Laugh out loud funny!
My son is 9 years old, plays video games until he drops and cannot sit still. That is until he found the Funny Boy books. He can't get enough of them. We are constantly hearing him read out loud. In fact these are the first books that he actually finished outside of school.
The writing is fast-paced and witty. But not dumbed down kid- style funny, it is humor that everyone can appreciate.
