The Essential Bond: The Authorized Guide to the World of 00719 reviews
Lee Pfeiffer, Dave Worrall

Harper Paperbacks, 2002

Not THAT bad...but could have been better
I did want to get this book, simply because it does contain the BASICS to all the Bond movies up to THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH. It covers plots, characters, women, gadgets, etc. It's rather rote with the facts, and there are a few inconsistencies (Fleming himself was a tad guilty in that respect), so it's not a real big deal...the genre and the "legend" does (and will) live on. I found ...

Hiking Ruins Seldom Seen13 reviews
Dave Wilson

Falcon, 2000

Original and Well Researched
Let's face it, when it comes to hiking books, by-and-large they're not the most researched publications in the world. They tell you where to begin a hike, where to end, and a bit about what you'll see along the way, but almost nothing beyond the author's own observations. Ruins Seldom Seen is the first hiking guide I've seen that is truly different. In addition to the usual practical ...

Essential Marvel Team-Up, Vol. 2 (Marvel Essentials)2 reviews
Len Wein, Gerry Conway, ...

Marvel Comics, 2006

MTU Vol. 2 Captures Many Good Memories
As an ex-owner of many of the comics being reprinted in Marvel's Essential series, it is a real treat for me to reread these stories in this format, uninterrupted. While some of the stories presented in this volume are "campy" and "hokey," there are some real gems presented from the early careers of Bill Mantlo and Sal Buscema. In particular, issues #39-40, which contains a plethora of villains ...

Rock Formations7 reviews
Dave Wilson

Cidermill Books, 2005

A Great Gift for the Music Enthusiast
I bought this book for my brother who is a music buff and an amateur musician. He was thrilled with the gift and proceeded to read the book in its entirety in a matter of days. Of course I was pleased he enjoyed the book and thought enough of it to put it on his coffee table for guests to peruse. Since we live close to one another I would start thumbing through the book whenever I would come ...

Ruggles of Red Gap (Western Classics)2 reviews
Harry Leon Wilson, Dave Madden

RKO Unique, 1997

A trip back
I found an original copy of this book in a Deerfield, Massachusetts, bookstore and bought it for $2.00 (a steal). Reading it is like returning to those glorious days when novels were light, sophisticated, and enriching. The language is a bit dated but perfect for the character (Ruggles) and the time. It is a great lesson in the pretentions of our democracy. The satire cannot be lost on anyone ...

Uncle Phil's Diner: Interactive Dinner Theatre for Outreach
Dave Avanzino, Coley Fisher, ...

Lillenas Drama, 2000

A search for a theatrical outreach event that is fun, fast-paced, and not preachy should end with the selection of Uncle Phil’s Diner . Set in a 1950’s diner, the plot centers around Uncle Phil and his wait staff as they eagerly anticipate the arrival of the evening’s entertainment--a band called The Desotos. As it becomes increasingly apparent that the Desotos may never show up, the waiters & D.J. attempt to keep the ...

The event has moved ...

For Whom The Bells Ring
Dave Wilson

Jeremy Mills Publishing, 2007

Following the success of To Ride a Red Engine this is the second book in the series about life as a London fireman. Filled with stories of drama, adventure and the inherent humour of firemen, you are never quite sure whether to laugh out loud or cry. Whilst this book has received many glowing reviews, it does have a downside: it is not recommended for bedtime reading as constant chuckling tends to annoy your partner!
