Detroit radio for the connoisseur
This book deserves the most enthusiastic of accolades. Hopefully, five stars says it all. And I'd like to add that this superb look at Detroit radio is not only for rock and rollers. Detroit's enormous rock-guys are all represented, of course, but so are the pre-rock guys. The book has tremendous appeal for anyone who grew up in the Detroit area during the period. And, it was a hell of a ...

Astonishing book takes you deep into the power of transformation
This is one of the wisest books to come down the pike in a long while in my humble opinion. Mr. Carson is a great story teller, Medicine Man, who understands the power of humility and transformation. This book is a wide ranging exploration of events in the authors life working with some powerful healers, elders, and medicine people. He documents the road of the healer and what is required to ...

Judaism...the next 2000 years.
Rabbi Winkler is doing an amazing thing for Judaism. If it weren't for his writings on what the "Hebrews" really were/are/could be, I think I would have simply left my Judaism behind. But I am so thankful that this scholar and spirit has done the work he has done. In this book, he shows how Judaism is full of rituals, ideas, practices, and teachings that fit under the category "shamanic." He ...

A valued companion to the study of the Civil Rights Movement
I think that this book is a valued companion to Taylor Branch's epic work "Parting the Waters". Together, they make an unbeatable pair of study aids for one of America's most turbulent periods. While P.T.W. is a more dispassionate third person chronicle, E.O.T.P. is more personally driven. It brings to life individuals like Bayard Rustin, Stokley Carmichael, John Lewis and other giants ...

Medicine Cards: Discovery of Power through the Ways of Anima
I love this set, I kept my cards a secret to myself for the first few weeks I had them, but the identification of the reading and the situtaion I was questioning was eerie - so I asked various people who visited if they would not mind having a "Go" with the cards, well now my friends, family and acquaintences beleive I am a Shaman Sacred Card reader, this may be so but I believe it is the book ...

The sermon series is awesome!!! Each sermon has an introduction that gives the listener valuable tidbits about the sermon. You can feel the effect of MLK's powerful oration abilities. All of the sermons are still relevant today and anyone who has a pulse can benefit from listening to the set.

Exceptionally clear and accessible
A gem of a book - the first section on research philosophies alone makes it worth reading. The authors write with exceptional clarity of subjects that are often difficult to grasp if not already well versed in research philosophy. Excellent advice on methodology as well - for graduate students such as myself, who might be struggling with methodological issues and who might be having difficulty ...

A Priceless Documentary of America's Civil Rights Struggle
America's largest, most continuous, and most pressing domestic issue has been the treatment it has accorded black Americans. Similarly, the most important and valuable social movement in our country in the Twentieth Century was the Civil Rights movement which began, essentially, in the 1940's with WW II, received its focus with the Supreme Court's decision in Brown v. Board of Education in 1954, ...

Brings events of history to vivid life
Written by former international mission worker David C. Carson, Maccabee is a historical novelization of mid-2nd century, when a Syrian king called Antiochus Epiphanes sought to exterminate the Jewish nation. One elderly priest and his five sons dared to resist; and one of those sons would become known to future generations as Maccabee. Told in first-person perspective, Maccabee is as dark as is ...

Every librarian should have this book on their desks!
In a world of theory-ladden writing, this book is a breath of fresh air. The authors give us practical, useful advice and helpful hints on how to manage and lead fellow staff members. There's not much out there that is this clearly written and functional.

We LOVE this series!!!
We love the whole Disney Fairy series. These larger books are wonderful for reading to a 5-7 year old! My daughter and I read them every night, and it takes about 3 weeks to finish one of the big ones. I only wish there were more in the series, we are almost done!

Fairies are Better then Princesses.
I realized part of why I like the Disney Fairies better than the Disney Princesses: Disney Fairies have everything they need and are happy. Disney Princesses get everything they want. I just think I would rather be the Fairies than the Princesses. Disney Fairies are happy with the way things are, especially happy with themselves. Disney Princesses... Sure they are happy because they get what they ...

I thought this was a fascinating autobiographical story of a very successful business man, who has a heart attack at a young age, and thus goes through an amazing spiritual transformation. He travels to many exotic places, and adopts the Buddhist life style and religion, which by the way, is a very wonderful, wise, and tranquil path of spirituality. It held my interest to the end, and I highly ...
