Corps Business: The 30 Management Principles of the U.S. Marines27 reviews
David H. Freedman

Collins Business, 2001

Value failure, earn respect, focus down, flexible and fast
"It takes a moment for it to sink in that this young man just said he admires his boss enough to die for him." - _Corps Business_. There seems to be a dirth of real leadership in the business world today. We talk a lot about management but not much about leading and motivating people. The result seems to be a style of management that sees the bottom line as more important than the people ...

An excellent and fascinating read for any sci-fi fan...
If you've ever read 'I, Robot' by Issac Asimov (or anything like it), this book should be required reading for you. It provides a fascinating and candid view into the history, research, debates and a detailed summary of the current progress in the controversial field of A.I. (artificial intelligence). I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and have shared it's title with many who have also enjoyed ...

More Than Expected
I had seen this book on Amazon before and by-passed it, thinking that it would be little more than an anthology of dick stories, past and present. Do not make that mistake. This is a well-researched book that investigates the religious, scientific, racial, political and psychological dimensions - pun intended- of the penis throughout Western History, from Ancient Greece to Viagra. On the other ...

At Large: The Strange Case of the World's Biggest Internet Invasion24 reviews
David H. Freedman, Charles C. Mann

Touchstone, 1998

Fascinating!
This book chronicles the exploits of a young computer enthusiast who managed to break into an alarming number of computers, mainly by sheer perseverance. The book is also the story of the people who hunted this early cybercriminal and how he was ultimately caught. One of the remarkable aspects of the story is that the chief antagonist (the "hacker") was not particularly skilled. He was ...

A Perfect Mess: The Hidden Benefits of Disorder - How Crammed Closets, Cluttered Offices, and on-the-Fly ...38 reviews
Eric Abrahamson, David H. Freedman

Little, Brown and Company, 2007

fun and educational: worth rereading
I chanced upon this at the library and read almost all of it in 1 sitting. Its that interesting. The real life examples given are eye openers. The next time I feel compelled to hyperorganize my receipts/coupons/desk I will weigh the time cost versus benefit. Right now I am recycling as many outdated/junk mail/etc papers as I can though so there wont be much of a mess to deal with.
