Manga Monster Madness1 review
David Okum

Topeka Bindery, 2005

Not bad. But ....
I bought Manga Fantasy Madness for my 12 year old daughter and she really likes the book. So, I bought her Manga Monster Madness as well. Myabe I am judging this book a little to harshly, after all it is for beginners and definatly has some good stuff for artist that just starting out. The ten drawing tips are good, so are the shading tips. If my kid needs help with color she can learn a little ...

Cold Hands, Dark Hearts: Big Eyes, Small Mouth RPG Supplement1 review
David Okum

Guardians of Order, 2003

Great Fun!
this is a great addition to any BESM campaign or the book contains its own campaign setting that can be used. I haven't actually played with these rules yet, but reading through the templates look like they could make for a very fun campaign. There are a few editing problems I noticed, and a couple of the rules are worded a little strangly, but overall looks very solid.

Manga Fantasy Madness: Over 50 Basic Lessons for Drawing Warriors, Wizard1 review
David Okum

Impact, 2006

A book that has trouble deciding
This book has trouble deciding whether it wants to teach basic artistic technicalities or just be a genre sourcebood with some how-to-draw guidance for intermediate artists. So many books flub this choice completely, this one doesn't do too bad a job. Again a good sourcebook for someone who wants the genre archetypes layed out simply with some advice on drawing them. But little else. Would be ...

Manga Madness3 reviews
David Okum, 2008

Manga Madness
I'll start off by saying this: don't be deceived by the cartoony cover. It's actually probably the best HTDM (How to Draw Manga) book I own. It teaches you everything from the origin of manga, to backgrounds, different coloring methods, chibis, robots, comics, and, of course, the basics of drawing characters. Pages 6-7 cover the tools of drawing manga. It explains what kind of paper you need ...
