Chip Kidd: Book One: Work: 1986-2006 (Chip Kidd) 8 reviews Chip Kidd
Rizzoli, 2005
Why are you reading this itstead of buying the book? This book is bound with a split hardback/softback cover, so if you appreciate design -- which I assume you do since you're considering a compilation of book designs -- the book is worth buying for this odd cover arrangement alone.

David Sedaris Live at Carnegie Hall 35 reviews David Sedaris
audible.com
Sedaris--A Laugh a Minute Want to listen to something hilarious? If you're a fan of Public Radio, you have probably heard David Sedaris reading his stories. Or perhaps read them in "The New Yorker", "Esquire", or in his books. He's a very funny, irreverent, whimsical gay man and devastating when it comes to satirizing his family. And he's not afraid of being the butt of jokes. He lives in France so there are touches of ...

Naked 2 reviews
Time Warner AudioBooks, 2004
Buy this book! Naked is a laugh out loud collection of autobiographical short-stories, and happens to be my favorite of all his books. Naked is most enjoyable in audiobook form due to the narration by the author. Sedaris gained national attention after reading his essays on NPR. His understatedly dramatic readings compelled him to fame, and hearing the author read his own writing is a true treat. Sedaris' ...

Me Talk Pretty One Day 1 review David Sedaris
Time Warner Audio Books, 2000
So funny This book was histarical! I loved his stories. It was easy to follow, since each section was its own story, so you wouldn't have to have listened to one story for the other to make sense, yet it all flowed nicely. It was one of those books that I was actually really sad when it ended and almost wanted to read it again.

The David Sedaris Box Set 27 reviews David Sedaris
Time Warner Audio Books, 2000
How Can You Beat This Price? As a big fan of David Sedaris, I have loved listening to him read his stories on NPR even more than I have enjoyed reading his books. While I had wanted to purchase some of the audiobooks, they always seemed so pricy.
When I saw this box set on Amazon, I immediately added it to my wishlist. The quantity of stories and books in the set is amazing! I received it for Christmas and have been ...

Holidays on Ice 2 reviews
Time Warner AudioBooks, 2004
Holiday humor I'm a huge fun of Sedaris and his humor. Having said this, I am so thrilled to have Christmas stories Sedaris style. Some of these stories are more funny than others. Definitely, this book is worth reading or listening to (Book on cd is read by David Sedaris) to get you in the holiday season spirit if your idea of Christmas are elves and Santa Clause and crazy family reunions.

Barrel Fever and Other Stories 10 reviews
Hachette Audio, 1998
An Exception to the Rule As a general rule, I avoid audio books. The actual texts are cheaper, and I find that I get a fuller experience of the book when I read it myself.
David Sedaris is the exception to that rule.
Don't get me wrong; I love reading his work. I've read everything I can by him and enjoyed every mintue. The exception is that as much as I enjoy reading his work, listening to him read it is all that ...

Dress Your Family In Corduroy And Denim 2 reviews David Sedaris
Back Bay Books, 2005
Lovin' Sedaris This was the first David Sedaris book I ever read. After reading this book I bought and read three other books of his. This one has turned out to be my most favorite. Once you start reading you won't want to put down. Sedaris will have you laughing over and over again with his bizarre and intriguing memoir. If you read only one Sedaris book ever, choose Corduroy and Denim.

Heyne, 2002

Jenny and the Jaws of Life: Short Stories 17 reviews Jincy Willett
St. Martin's Griffin, 2002
Sedaris loves it, but this is not like his work at all My favorite short story writers are Alice Munro, Lorrie Moore, Amy Bloom and Flannery O'Connor, if that helps you place my taste on the spectrum of what's out there. People looking for the comedy of bleak sarcasm, the kind that leaves you wincing as you laugh (Sedaris, Burroughs), will only be able to find some of that here, but not a lot of it. This is a book about the connections between ...

Half & half I LOVE David Sedaris & was really looking forward to this next release. I was disappointed to find that about half of the stories were on other Audiobooks I have bought. I feel a bit ripped off. Couldn't he have waited until he had all new material to publish? Of course the material is all very funny & he's the guy I'd like sitting next to me next time I fly. Listen to the book & you'll get ...

Santaland Diaries & Seasons Greetings: 2 Plays 6 reviews David Sedaris
Dramatists Play Service, 1998
Very funny, sarcastic. It would appear many of stories are somewhat based off the authors life. Some of the stories are just sarcastic takes on society and how people act though. I liked this book, the first of the authors I had ever read. I was compelled to make my purchase after hearing the author on NPR giving an interview and reciting a few paragraphs from the Santaland story. I wasn't disappointed. If you like to ...

Me Talk Pretty One Day 715 reviews David Sedaris, 2001
David Sedaris delivers By far the funniest novel I have ever enjoyed. Sedaris turns our everyday occurrences into side-splitting laughter. I remember reading this book in a quiet setting and by time I was a chapter in people around me were staring because I could not contain myself. Sedaris delivers comedy in a simplistic style. Buy this book! You will not be disappointed.

Barrel Fever: Stories and Essays 115 reviews David Sedaris
Back Bay Books, 1995
I love this book So I feel compelled to write a review. This book is absurd. It is perverse. It sometimes is uncomfortable to read. I didn't love it the first time I read it and it has grown on me like a fungus. I certainly understand why lots and lots of people don't like it but I would like to impress on those who are reading the reviews that the book is not BAD, just a little unpolished. It seems that ...

Excellent! Highly recommended! This book stood out on the shelf. At the time i purchased it i knew nothing of David's works and boy was I in for a surprise! Reading David's collections is one of those guilty pleasures you just cant describe to people. This book is by far one of my all time favorites. I look forward to his new title "when you are engulfed in flames".

The Best American Travel Writing 2002 (Best American) 7 reviews
Houghton Mifflin, 2002
Travel the world without leaving your living room If you like short stories and travelogues you'll love this book. These are the best of the best. And like some reviewers have already mentioned, there are a wide variety of experiences and information in this collection of essays. I found myself laughing in Devin Friedman's "Forty Years in Acapulco" and Lawwrence Millman's "In the Land of the White Rajahs" and learning new information from Molly ...
