Three Complete Novels (The Servants of Twilight / Darkfall / Phantoms)14 reviews
Dean R. Koontz

Wings, 1991

Beautiful Combo
This book is probably one of the best I ever had because the novels compiled are all very thrilling and fun to read. I have read it twice and there is nothing else to do than to admire the way Dean R. Koontz writes. If you want to read something out of the ordinary, a bit on the supernatural side, along with a lot of action and twists, this is the one you need.

Beautiful Death: The Art of the Cemetery (Penguin Studio Books)5 reviews
Dean Koontz

Penguin Studio, 1996

The Sound of the Cemetary
To appreciate this is book of art you have to be able to look past all preconceived ideas of cemetaries and dying and look further into a higher realm of spirituality. The monuments featured in this book speak of something other than death - they speak of the person that lives on and the people that are left behind to remember them. Looking through the pages I felt a connection to another world ...

This includes three GREAT Jack London novels, Call of the Wild, White Fang, and The Sea Wolf, along with 15 of his Alaskan wilderness short stories and Cruise of the Dazzler as well. This book can be found on amazon.com for less than a dollar most of the time so as far as bang for your buck you can't do better than picking up a copy of this book.

Moonchasers and other stories4 reviews
Ed Gorman

Forge Books, 2000

Unputdownable
Ed Gorman is one of the main reasons I am an insomniac. Several years ago, he and a couple of fellow thugs persuaded me to try an anthology. My meat and potatoes are novels, but I soon found a gourmet?s delight in short stories so that I spend several nights reading a tale or two from a collection. Mr. Gorman?s latest anthology exclusively includes only tales written by him. That alone ...

Love Heels: Tales from Canine Companions for Independence9 reviews
Patricia Dibsie

Yorkville Press, 2003

Love Heels: Tales From Canine Companions for Independence
Oh, wow! I highly recommend this book. I have been a puppy raiser for CCI since 1988, and this book absolutely captures the heart and soul of this wonderful organization. I have lived the puppy-raising part twelve times, so I especially appreciate the breeder-caretaker and graduate stories. The book not only reinforces the specialness of the bond between humans and dogs, but also gives you ...

How to Write Best Selling Fiction8 reviews
Dean R. Koontz

Writers Digest Books, 1981

required reading for writers
This is the Bible for anyone who wants to write good commercial fiction. His no-b.s. approach to writing is refreshing in an area filled with mediocre books. This book may be expensive and hard to find (it should be updated, or at least brought back in print), but is well worth the effort in tracking it down, as much of what he says is still valid.

The Nightrunners10 reviews
Joe R. Lansdale, Dean Koontz

Tor Books, 1989

Extremely scary. Extremely disturbing and very violent
I got into Joe Landsdale through his comic book work and I thank G-d that he took those jobs because it lead me to this twisted nasty little edge of Hell. A nice liberal couple comes face to face with hell when the wife is raped and the husband must confront his notions about human goodness head-on and ponder whether or not he is a coward instead of a pacifist. Meanwhile the rapist, hanging in ...

Watchers (Turtleback School & Library Binding Edition)2 reviews
Dean Koontz

Turtleback, 2003

A Lovely Dog, a Nice Couple & a Terrible Mutant.
"Watchers" is a great story to be read. Dean Koontz has a superlative genius for depicting scenes with constant and subtle increase of tension. With very tiny elements, a normal engagement, turns into a hair-raising situation. The dog-human relationship is very dearly and shows a deep penetration of the author on canine psyche. Every dog-lover person will be seduced by the mutated Golden ...

THE BAD PLACE1 review
Dean R. Koontz

G. P. Putnam, 1990

Dean Koontz at His Best!
Out of all the books I have read by Dean Koontz which is pretty much everything he has written, this is the best of all. Much better than his latest books. It kept me up all night in my need to finish it.

Demon Seed1 review
Dean R. Koontz

New York: Bantam Books # N7190 1st Edition 1973, 1973

A far better read than the " new and improved" version
This is a review of the original 1970's version of " Demon Seed". I had the misfortune of reading the updated version and instantly disliked it. In the original, Susan is a far more engaging heroine and Proteus is a much more appealing villain. In the update, he just comes across as an egomanic, psychotic stalking ex-boyfriend type. Susan, in the update, is a cynical foul mouthed hardnose that ...

Mr. murder was an awesome book
Mr. Murder, by Dean Koontz, was an amazing book that captured my attention from beginning to end. This book is packed full of terror and thrill that will had me on the edge of my seat. A Big Little Life CD: Memoir of a Joyful Dog2 reviews
Dean Koontz

Hyperion, 2009

A Big Little Life
I highly recommend this book. Not being a fan of Koontz's "darker" writing, I thoroughly enjoyed this uplifting story of the ways Trixie impacted their life. As an avid reader, usually one book a year makes a terrific impression on me. This year, it was this book, and I purchased several copies of the book and CD (hopefully being "abridged" it will still be wonderful) for family and friends. ...

Koontz: Three Complete Novels, Lightning, The Face Of Fear and The Vision3 reviews
Dean Koontz

Putnam Adult, 1993

lightning
I have read this book four times and I have no doubt I will read it again. It is absolutely the best book I have ever read. It has a story within a story and the time travel aspect is so believable that you actually wonder if time travel is possible. The characters are so real and you have suspense, terror, heartache and love all thrown in to make a great "can't put down" book.

Dean Koontz: Phantoms, the Servants of Twilight, the Bad Place1 review
Dean R. Koontz

Berkley Pub Group, 1996

It makes you think about what you don't know.
I loved the book. It brought back previous ideas about what we learned in history about vanishing tribes and villages. Even though the book is fiction it makes you think of what could happen.

Night Chills (Signed)3 reviews
Dean R. KOONTZ

Atheneum, 1976

Mr. Murder and Santa's Evil Twin make quite a pair!
Mr. Murder is the first Dean Koontz novel I have read and I am now a dedicated fan! He has taken me back to my roots in Orange County. He has shown me all the evil hiding in the shadows that I never knew was there. Makes you wonder just what the powers that be are really capable of, doesn't it? Maintaining the relationship with the wife and little girls in this story in the face of the killers ...
