Knights Templar,Freemasons and Evil Sorcerers. Skullduggery and High Adventure
As a practising 32' Mason and an avid adventure reader as well as an author myself,I enjoyed the entire Adept series immensly.Kurtz has the style and the flow of her adventures is intense. The characters are as though pulled from real life, her accuracy on the subject matter is right on.Absolute fun reading,I highly recommend this series. Especially for Brothers of the Order, but also for those who ...

Great occult mystery
I love occult fiction and a friend recommended the Adept series to me because he knew I liked Dion Fortune's fiction. Unlike Fortune's fiction, this novel won't gift you with verses for your rituals, but it certainly captures the feeling of the astral realms and the battle of good versus evil. Okay, so the hero is wealthy and lives a life of luxury we can only imagine, but, hey, this is a ...

Knights is much better than the first two of the series
After admitting that I am an avid fan of Kurtz, I was somewhat disappointed with this series. The first book I thought was terrible. The characters found in the book are wonderful, but the story is just too out there for even this fantasy lover's taste. The second was better however, and the third was better still. Although not up to par with the Deryini series, it has its good moments. As ...

The Temple and the Stone by Katherine Kurtz and Deborah Turn
The Temple and the Stone by Katherine Kurtz and Deborah Turner Harris If you enjoyed the Adept Series by these authors you will enjoy this book. If not, this probably is not the book for you either. Much like the Adept books this is an Esoteric Mystery book. Some of it takes place in the solid every day reality we are used to, but many of the clues are to be found in the Astral/unseen world. I ...

A Great Followup
I started reading the Adept because K. Kurtz wrote it and I liked her Deryni series. I had no idea how good it was. Since that first book, I have continued to read and be impressed. Death of an Adept keeps the standard of the Adept series has high as ever. It is a fitting end to the series of events that started in book 1. I loved it. I usually get bored with book series after awhile, but ...

An okay anthology
I've been a fan of Katherine Kurtz's work for a long time now and look forward to each of her books as they come out. I enjoyed most of the stories in the first two Templar anthologies, but I'm afraid I can't say the same about this one. The stories were well written, but just didn't seem to catch my attention. Twenty-four hours after reading the book, I can't really remember any of the ...

This book is an extremely imaginative blend.
I loved "Dagger Magic" and the other Adept novels. I would not recomend it for serious reading, but it is fun and imaginative, and had interesting devolopments of the Adept World View. Some readers may be put off by it's glimpse in the life of Adam Sinclair Style, and the fact that the supposed main focus of the book is stuck in the last quarter of it. I still found my emotions aroused, ...

Adventure and mystery and a real page-turner
City of Exile is a fine fantasy novel and a fitting conclusion to the Caledon trilogy. At last we see more of the Feyan and get a bit of insight into their well-drawn and quite alien culture. The juxtaposition of the highly-mannered Feyan, the rough but noble Caledons and the insufferable Berings makes for added depth in a novel that is full of swashbuckling adventure, high court intrigue and ...

Rousing conclusion to a great adventure series
It's a darn shame this book isn't available any more - with any luck, word will spread and the publisher will reprint the series. I read the three of them when they first came out, and Spiral of Fire was a wonderful end to a series full of adventure and memorable characters. Without resorting to purple prose, Harris nevertheless invokes genuine emotion in the reader with her loving portrayal of ...

A good book
This book is quite good. It seems to be stylized Scottish history with a major twist. It keeps you interested until the ending and then leaves it just open ended enough that you want her to come back and play in this universe again, without requiring a sequel. If you enjoy fantasy, or historical fantasy I think you will enjoy this book

Wonderful alternative Scotland and how it could be!
'The Queen of Ashes' was a wonderfully compelling read! I didn't put the book down until I finished it!!! I didn't know this was the second book in the series, and for some reason, I always seem to end up starting in the middle of a series. However, if you haven't read the first book, the second still is contained enough in itself to be comprehensive and wonderful. I absolutely loved this tale ...

FANTASTIC!!!!
I spent last night in Bannockburn with Robert Bruce and a group of outlawed Templar Knights. I watched in awe as they routed the army of Edward of England. Actually I've spent the last week following these men around the world...To France, Scotland, and even under the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. And now that the adventure is over and Robert is King, I will miss our time together. If I sound like ...
