Loved this Book as Child!
While reading a Maurice Sendak book to my kids last night, I remembered this book! I couldn't remember the titles only some details about a broom, a monster and cellar. Finally I found it!! I remember my mother reading this book to me over and over. I am definitely buying it for my 3 kids. Hopefully it is as good as I remember.

Sweet Basset Hound, Cute book!
I bought this book because it has a basset hound as the main character. I love bassets and this book is really cute (even if you are not a basset hound fan). The nice tale of one generous dog sharing his gifts with a less fortunate dog sends a good message about sharing. If you like dogs or need a book to help encourage sharing, this is the one for you! Cute pictures also!

A great kid's book - a shame that it's out of print
Grab a used copy while you can! This is a great children's book with a funny story that you won't mind reading the 2.8 million times your kids will ask to hear it. Is a perfect read-aloud book that lends itself to animated voices and laughing together with your kids. Will appeal to a wide age-range of kids. My youngest was hooked on it at 10.5 months old! "Poppy" (or some variation thereof) ...

Is Milton Missing?: Story2 reviews
Steven Kroll

Holiday House, 1975

Wonderful Children's Story
This is an outstanding children's book from my childhood. I can remember it being read on Captain Kangaroo. It has great illistrations and add to the story's delight. Milton is a great dane (dog) who has wandered away and no one can find him. His owner has looked high and low. It is a sweet story about family and losing something very special. And most of all it is a story of new life ...

The Wonderful Hay Tumble1 review
Kathleen McKinley Harris

Morrow Junior Books, 1988

A clever rural Vermont tall tale with a happy ending.
The author of this book is my sister. However, the book is a delightful, imaginative romp on a poor sidehill farm in Vermont. It describes a farmer at his wit's end for lack of money for his family. A miraculous rolling hay "tumble" or drying pile gets him out of his tough times, believe it or not by helping with the chores, and the world suddenly looks better. It's a tale that youngsters all ...
