Lady Lollipop9 reviews
Dick King-Smith

Scholastic, 2002

A Not so Dirty Pet
The princess gets a pig for her birthday but the queen doesn't like it. The queen thinks it's dirty. This book is about figuring out ways for the queen to like the pig. I think this is a very, very funny book, because there are three pictures of poo-poo. I am 9 years old and I found this very easy to read.

The Complete Sophie Stories2 reviews
Dick King-Smith

Walker Books Ltd, 2001

Sophie is better than Junie B. Jones!
If you love Junie B. Jones you should love Sophie's escapades. If you like books your child can relate to, but want words and grammar to be correct examples of the English language, then you will love Sophie. There are times that Sophie uses a 4-year-old's way of spelling but as she gets older she corrects her mistakes. Dick King-Smith uses several phrases that may be less familiar to ...

A collection of heart-warming tales from a well-loved author
Dick King-Smith has done it again. This time it is a series of homespun tales, perfect as bedtime read aloud stories. Each jewel is carefully carved to create that warm fuzzy feeling. The stories are about the author's personal experiences with animals; from turtles to cats and beyond. I recomend this book for ALL ages, especially for the parents of small children. It is a collection of ...

Chewing the Cud (Paragon Softcover Large Print Books)3 reviews
Dick King-Smith

Chivers Large print (Chivers, Windsor, Paragon & C, 2002

Entertaining and inspiring
Dick King-Smith is one of my favorite authors. He writes books that are for children but are equally enjoyed by adults. And this autobiography is no exception. Being a writer myself (though just a journalist right now -- an inspiring children's author one day) his book and his journey in becoming an author was so nice to read. He didn't start out as an author. It was a gradual thing.

Harry's Mad1 review
Dick King-Smith

Puffin Books, 1993

Wonderful, humorous story!
I thought this book was going to be about a boy who has problems with anger, but that isn't it at all. His parrot's name is Madison, and "Mad" is his nickname. If you liked the movie "Babe," also written by this author, you will like this book. The parrot is hilariously funny because he is so smart. The boy and the bird keep this secret from his parents, at least for awhile. The bird becomes a ...

The Mouse Butcher2 reviews
Dick King-Smith

I really like this book!
The tale of a heroic cat who dared brave the monter of Hobb's Hole! On the still air from the distant fields came a horrible mixture of a roar and a scream with a snarl mixed in, and even at that distance it was so loud that everyone knew one thing for certain. It was the noise of no ordinary creature! Only Tom Plug, the butcher's fearless cat and a true hunter, dared brave the monster of Hobb's ...

Swoose2 reviews
Dick King-Smith

Hyperion, 1994

A review from Shannon!!
One character in this book is the Swoose. A swoose is half goose and half swan (except the swoose's name is "Fitzherbert.") Fitzherbert is the color white. The swoose wanted to visit the queen and see her father who is a swan. I like Fitzherbert and want her to be my friend. She also met a water-vole on her way to see the Queen and her father. You should read this book. I like it.

The Golden Goose1 review

Knopf Books for Young Readers, 2005

author Dick King Smith
Writes terrific stories about animals; for young readers but I've read them too. Dick King Smith wrote 'Babe' which was a marvellous movie about a sheep-pig. Recommend this author to anyone looking for good literature for children. Does not speak down to young readers.

Lady Daisy2 reviews
Dick King-Smith

Demco Media, 1995

A charming story for a slow afternoon
I began reading this book in the morning. I finished by theafternoon. Although it's not a page turner, it begs you to readon. The plot of a talking doll is so fantastic, the reader wishes Lady Daisy was there speaking to her. I would recommend this book to anybody who wants to get away from the reality of books. Escape into a world of clean fun and be charmed by Lady Daisy and her friend.
