This Book has a Soul
A few books come my way which have a story, some technical relevance, and a soul. I read somewhere else (sorry, can't recall) that sometimes we don't find good books, they find us. This is a good book that found me. I like it. The style, the contents, the production, the concept - the 'soul'. If you are moving to that 'analog to digital' phase in your photographic life, buy this book. And ...

Excellent practicum on the art of imaging and developing
This is an excellent source of creative insight. I found this book helped me see more creative posibilities. I have tried many of the techniques, especially toning, outlined in this book and found the results very gratifying. In fact, by using the processing technique outlined in this book one of my images won a juried competition. This isn't a book for a beginner in the darkroom, but if you ...

Great book for photographers looking to create better images
This book, Developing Vision and Style, as with a former book in the series, Working the Light, provide guidance on producing great photographs. There is no discussion of how to operate your camera, or which filter to use, just good images with interesting insights. This book is soemwhat different in format, as individual critiques by the authors is not present, as in the former book, but ...

Getting the most out of smaller negatives.
Getting the most out of smaller negatives. One of the problems that the small format (35mm) photographer faces when using faster film (ASA 400) is that the subsequent loss of detail makes truly representative imagery difficult to accomplish. Used to the techniques of large format specialists such as Ansel Adams or John Sexton, we have come to expect big prints with breathtaking depth and detail. ...

The book broadly falls apart in three sections: an ...

Inspiring Photography and Instruction
As a previous reviewer mentioned, it's intimidating to see such incredible photography, especially if you're an aspiring photographer (as I am). However, I find the beauty of the photography here to be inspirational, and the critiques provided are very informative. I highly recommend reading this book if you're an aspiring nature photographer.

Answers MANY Questions ...
This book is invaluable to anyone struggleing to make prints like the master printmakers. Picture by picture analysis of negatives, lighting, exposure and split filtering to make it all work. While I do not take the kind of pictures used as examples, there is something in each one that is applicable to a very broad range of photographs. Thanks Eddie!
