The Forest 50 reviews Edward Rutherfurd
Ballantine Books, 2001
Visiting the scene of "The Forest" Something about this book, as opposed to "Sarum" "London" "Russka" and "Princes of Ireland" was so compelling in its tale and it characters, I made a 5 day trip to the U.K. and visited Bath-Sarum-Amesbury-Lyndhurst. The village of Lyndhurst is still just that, a village. And the Forest, the ponies and the ancient Abbey of Beulieu were stunning. You can walk for miles through the New Forest ...

Russka 54 reviews Edward Rutherfurd
Crown, 1991
700 Years Historical novels tell not only what occurred over the years, but how it impacted people personally. Russka does this very well, allowing for transgenerational effect as this sleepy Russian town mnout cope with governmental changes. It starts in the 1200s and finishes in the mid-1900s, describing life as seen by those who lived it.

The Rebels of Ireland 2 reviews Edward Rutherfurd
Doubleday Canada, 2006
An Irish history lesson This book and it's predecessor "The Princes of Ireland" are fiction, but the history lesson is there just the same. Rutherford has a very fine literary style that he builds around generations of specific families. We see history unfold through the eyes of these characters, and it is a powerful way to make a lasting impression on the reader. Therefore, these books, as his other ones, are not ...

Sarum 125 reviews Edward Rutherfurd
Arrow Books Ltd, 1991
One of the most memorable books I have ever read. Sarum was simply one of the most memorable books I have ever read. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in English history.
There were no parts of this book that I didn't enjoy. You live and remember with the characters. The book actually makes you feel like you are a local of Salisbury England.
Since I read this book I have read every Rutherford book except Russka and The rebels ...

Dublin 5 reviews Edward Rutherfurd
Century, 2004
FYI-- This is the european title for Princes of Ireland I very much enjoyed Princes of Ireland and was looking for more of Rutherfurd's books to read. I ordered Dublin thinking it was a different book.... it's not! It is Princes of Ireland under a different title. Thought this "head's up" would be helpful.

The Princes of Ireland : The Dublin Saga 63 reviews Edward Rutherfurd
Doubleday Canada, Limited, 2004
Rutherford's books Rutherford does a great deal of research and manages to weave a lot of real history into a fictional story with finesse. The sequel, "The Rebels of Ireland", taught me more about Ireland's current culture than reading a stack of history books would have done.

London 197 reviews Edward Rutherfurd
Arrow Books Ltd, 1998
A personal favorite... Quite simply, I loved this novel. I have no problem with lengthy texts if they are engaging, and I never found this less than fascinating. In my opinion, a better read than "Sarum" or "The Forest," both of which I also enjoyed.

The Rebels of Ireland: The Dublin Saga 27 reviews Edward Rutherfurd
Anchor Canada, 2007
A wonderfully captivating book This fascinating book is an epic of Irish History. But, where most epics focus on kings and princes and leading warriors, this book follows the history of a group of Irish families as they travel down through Irish History from the end of the sixteenth century through to the early decades of the twentieth century. The O'Byrnes, the MacGowans, the Smiths, and even the English Budges, jostle and ...

Russka 1 review Edward Rutherfurd
Random House Value Publishing, 1995
AMAZING! Edward Rutherfurd takes the reader through centuries and generations Russian history by intertwining the lives of a few families. As the reader becomes involved in the lives of the characters he or she is also witness to the birth and trials of a great nation and her leaders. For anyone who can read and ESPECIALLY for those who have even a small thirst for history, this book cannot be recommended ...

The Forest 3 reviews Edward Rutherfurd
Ballantine Books, 2005
EDWARD RUTHERFURD DOES IT AGAIN!!! I HAD PREVIOUSLY READ 'SARUM', 'LONDON' AND 'RUSSKA' AND I HAVE JUST FINISHED READED 'THE FOREST'. EDWARD RUTHERFURD HAS TO BE THE "FINEST" HISTORIAL NOVEL WRITER IN MANY, MANY YEARS! HIS OBVIOUS RESEARCH AND HIS ABILITY TO PUT 'YOU' INTO THE 'FOREST' OR LONDON, OR SARUM OR RUSSIA IS AMAZING. I NOW HAVE TWO OTHER OF HIS HISTORICAL NOVELS - 'THE PRINCES OF IRELAND' AND THE 'REBELS OF IRELAND'. ...

Sarum 1 review Edward Rutherfurd
Droemer Knaur, 2005
German Edition I read this book about 10 years ago and loved it. Found it on Amazon US site and ordered a copy. Have just picked it up only to find it's in German. The seller did not state that he was selling a German edition so I have a book I cannot read. Shame as I was looking forward to a good read.
