Great Guide book to South America
This is a great guide book for South America. I was looking at many of them, and thought this was the most useful for how to get around, different levels of accomodations in case you wanted high end, mid or budget...really gives you a good sense. I looked at Lonely Planet, which I normally like, but feel the South America book was lacking. I also looked at Footprint for Peru and Ecaudor...but ...

Frommer's fan
Frommer's Cuba was my first guidebook purchase ever!! And what a great buy. I had done most of my travel research online or through word of mouth but with Frommer's, I was able to not only get detailed information of the sites of the country, I was also able to choose between several different options. I like how they categorized the different places within the book so you don't have to waste ...

better than LP
I am a planner freak, so I used this book and Lonely Planet for my trip. I ended up relying on the Frommers as it was more detailed, more accurate with pricing, and included alot of stuff LP didn't.

For Dummies, 2007

Best First Visit to Costa Rica Book
My husband and I were going to Costa Rica for our honeymoon so, wanting to research it thoroughly, I bought 6 different C.R. travel books. I bought this one last and wish I had bought it first. It was the book I kept going back to. It also had the most useful maps of any of the C.R. books I saw. We wanted to stay at a mix of regularly priced places ($100+/night) along with the occasional ...

Frommer's Costa Rica 20019 reviews

Frommer's, 2000

This Book Was Excellent!
We went to Costa Rica to get married in front of the Arenal Volcano and I have to say it was the best vacation of our lives. We lucked out and the volcano erupted just before we said our vows. IT was also one of the clearest days of the year. This book helped us immensely. The map was invaluable. The descriptions of each place were dead on. The writer clearly knows every town intimately and we ...

Frommer's Costa Rica 20069 reviews

Frommers, 2005

As good as it gets
I found Frommer's Costa Rica 2006 to be as good as such guides get, and I am reasonably well traveled. By their nature, such guides are generalists, to be supplemented with specialist literature as you narrow your plans. Many other guides presuppose a specialty like ecotourism, and provide value in that way if such specialization happens to fit your plans. The Frommer's seeks to top the ...

An invaluable practical aid
I just came back from Costa Rica, and I am still amazed at how useful the book was. Everything we planned and did on the basis of the advice from the book turned into a successful endeavor and great memories. The book gives detailed information on which places to see, how to get there (covering all possible transporation means), hotels, good places to eat in the respective location, and local ...
