The Sexual Perspective: Homosexuality and Art in the Last 100 Years in the West

As far as text books go...!
If you're ever going to buy a book just for the pictures, look no further. Not only does "The Sexual Perspective" provide an open and thorough history of homoerotic art of the last few centuries, but it continues to fascinate the reader with alternative views of conventional and popular art. As for the pictures, it's certainly not porn, but I'd advise you to keep it on the top shelf of the ...

Review from an experienced potter
I am thrilled with this new book I recently purchased, I have had Emmanual Cooper's other books on glazing and recipes - and found them most informative and the glazes pretty true to explanation I also have found that they are quite stable - we fire in the higher 1260.C upwards catagory and the sometimes glaze recipes unless worked out correctly can be very unstable and uninteresting. All in ...

Amazing oil paintings of naked teenage boys
A good collection of paintings by a british master. Most paintings are of naked teenage boys by the sea in Cornwall, UK. This book provides a good collection of Tuke's paintings and the biography is interesting. However, if you can get a copy of the "Under Canvas" book about Tuke it's even better. A bit of trivia for the curious ... many Tuke originals are now owned by Elton John.

Bernard Leach: Life and Work
Whilst not being criticla of by Cooper's book considerable caution needs to be taken with a statement such as Bernard Leach being the father of studio pottery as many predated him, with just a few being Bernard Palissy 1509-1590 Ernest Chaplet 1835-1909 Auguste Delaherche 1857-1940 Martin Brothers 1873-1923 Fishley family from early 1800s William Moorcroft 1873-1945 William and Edward ...

The Most Comprehensive Study of Male Nude Photography Ever
For those of you who are true connoisseurs of male nude photography, this book is indispensible. I guarantee you will find pictures you have never seen before, as author Cooper had access to the Kinsey Vaults to prepare this book. The text is fascinating, but complex. The range of the sources of the photos (from medical files, to glossy beefcake, to news photos of streakers, to war photos, ...

Buy this if you can. You will not be disappointed.
What an outstanding collection of images this book contains. They are of very high quality indeed, and the book explores an unusual thesis. Quoting Emmanuel Cooper, " Jo Brunenberg's spare, minimal photographs, explore the paradox between geometrical symmetry and the sensual lines of the body ... Taut and finely crafted, his work uses the male nude and homoerotic desire to touch on issues of ...
