Mam'zelle Guillotine1 review
Baroness Emmuska Orczy

Waking Lion Press, 2006

Super Reader
In this book, Percy isn't opposed by Chauvelin, really, but instead, has to deal with a femme fatale, instead. A young woman ends up in the bastille because of a complicated story involving the execution of her father. When the mob releases her after the storming, she goes the other way, and becomes a feared agent of the blade, and is in fact nicknamed after it. She works to take revenge on ...

The Laughing Cavalier4 reviews

The beginning for the Scarlet Pimpernel
"The Scarlet Pimpernel" is one of my favorite movies. Since first watching it in the early 1980s I've watched two to three dozen times. I am working to indoctrinate my daughters. My oldest says she has seen it five time! In the late 1980s I saw the play in London. They did a great job. I burst out laughing when they went in to rescue the prince and a game of rugby broke out. Recently ...

The Scarlet Pimpernel (Enriched Classic)2 reviews
Emmuska Orczy

Pocket, 2004

God Save the King!
The Scarlet Pimpernel is a classic novel, though it is hard to categorize. It is part romance, part adventure, part spy thriller, and part superhero fiction. All of these elements went into the pot and the resulting stew is extremely entertaining. The book follows the adventures of Sir Percy Blakeney as he seeks to help French aristocrats escape the guillotine during the French Revolution. ...

The League of the Scarlet Pimpernel1 review
Baroness Emmuska Orczy

Echo Library, 2007

The League of the Scarlet Pimpernel Review
Suspenseful and realistic, The League of the Scarlet Pimpernel leaves the reader wanting more. It all seems so real. Could there really have been an Englishman who helped aristocrats escape out of Paris during the French Revolution? Each of the Scarlet Pimpernel's plans actually could have worked. Finding out the ingenious schemes the Scarlet Pimpernel used was my favorite part of the book. ...

I Will Repay12 reviews
Baroness Emmuska Orczy

FQ Classics, 2008

Flee the Embrace of Madame Guillotine
I WILL REPAY, a sequel to Orczy's novel THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL, is a delightful romp through fields of adventure, danger, betrayal, daring rescue, and true love. Orczy's weaving of the love motif amidst the events of the plot, events that threaten at any moment to bring down the wrath of Robespierre's Committee of Public Safety upon our protagonists, a wrath that would inevitably and quickly lead ...

Sir Percy Leads the Band (The Scarlet Pimpernel Series)3 reviews
Emmuska Orczy, Baroness Orczy

Buccaneer Books, 2002

Super Good
I really adored this book! It's the second one I've read in the Pimpernel series and I finished it in record time. It was so incredibly true to the spirit of The Scarlet Pimpernel. My only complaint would be - no Marguerite. She was very much a background character in this book, only mentioned, but never actually appearing. However, I would still recommend this to any Pimpernel fan!

The Way of the Scarlet Pimpernel7 reviews

House of Stratus, 2001

Great!
I borrowed this book from a friend, and I absolutely loved it. I fell in love with it the same way as I did the original Scarlet Pimpernel book. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loved The Scarlet Pimpernel.

Lord Tony's Wife6 reviews
Emmuska Orczy, Baroness Orczy

Buccaneer Books, 1986

We seek him here, we seek him there...
Okay, for those of you Pimpernel fanatics, this is the sixth book of the Pimpernel series. Our dear flirtatious Lord Anthony Dewhurst has fallen in love with a certain Yvonne de Kernogan. However, her father the Duc, and a vengeful peasant have other matrimonial plans for her. After some clever spying work, Sir Percy urges Lord Tony to marry Yvonne secretly. Things go all wrong when she is ...

The Scarlet Pimpernel6 reviews
Emmuska Orczy

Dalmatian Press, 2005

La! Delightful!
The Scarlet Pimpernel is truly a magnificent book. For something that looks, at first glance, to be an action-adventure novel, it is surprisingly character-driven. The man for whom the book is titled is not, in fact, the primary figure in the piece, but rather focuses on the incomparable character of Marguerite. The tale is wonderfully romantic -- Percy and Marguerite battle with pride and ...

The Scarlet Pimpernel: 100th Anniversary Edition (Signet Classics)146 reviews
Baroness Orczy Emmuska

Signet Classics, 2000

Outstanding
This was such a great book that it has found itself on my re-reads for the October, the finest month. Margurite, Sir Percy, The Fishermans Rest, Dover, Calais, The Chat Gris...What a story. And That Demmed Ellusive Pimpernel. Once the book starts ,it does not stop. It rolls like a snowball. Being near the end of August now I am looking at the book on the shelf with greed. Buy it read it and savour ...

The Old Man in the Corner

Very much astonished Polly Burton looked over the top of her newspaper and fixed a pair of very severe coldly inquiring brown eyes upon him.

Sir Percy Hits Back9 reviews
Emmuska Orczy, Baroness Orczy

Buccaneer Books, 2000

Chauvelins more human side...
Chauvelin, the arch-enemy of the Scarlet Pimpernel is ruthless and merciless, but he does have a tender spot in his heart. He loves his daughter Fleurette more than anyone else in the world. When he is speaking to her, he is almost another person. It is really touching to see how gentle and caring he is. Baroness Orczy describes Chauvelins love for Fleurtte as "pertained to that of a wild beast ...

Adventures of the Scarlet Pimpernel4 reviews
Emmuska Orczy, Baroness Orczy

Buccaneer Books, 1983

Percy Rocks!
"Adventures" is a collection of short stories about the exploits of the Pimpernel and his league. They are wonderfully entertaining and Pimpernel addicts will be in heaven! Lots of disguises and narrow escapes here. I particularly enjoyed "Fie, Sir Percy!" The prince of dandies falls asleep during a recitation of the pimpernel's adventures, bringing the playful wrath of the ton down on his ...

Pimpernel and Rosemary2 reviews
Emmuska Orczy, Baroness Orczy

Buccaneer Books, 1983

A Divine Read for Pimpernel Fans
This is a definite must-read for fans of Orczy and her 'Pimpernel' series. While it's true that it takes place three generations after the famous stories of Sir Percy, this book definitely contains the same level of intriguing plot-twists and romance. The story, in ways, is similar to the original 'Scarlet Pimpernel,' but different enough to keep a reader interested and on his/her toes.

The passions of the weak that traps the strong
So far I have read "The Scarlet Pimpernel," "The Elusive Pimpernel" and I had just finished "El Dorado." This last book wounded me emotionally so much I'm still hurting. I had watched Jane Seymoure's version(1982) of the movie before so I had an idea of the plot. I knew Armand would be the cause of our hero's troubles but I didn't know it was going to be such a near death experience... The ...

The League of the Scarlet Pimpernel
Emmuska Orczy, Baroness Orczy

Quiet Vision Pub, 2004

Molé, despite his great height, succeeded in getting through unperceived. He was of no account, and he knew his way inside the house. It was full of people: journalists, gaffers, woman and men--the usual crowd that come to gape. The citizen Marat was a great personage. The Friend of the People. An Incorruptible, if ever there was one. Just look at the simplicity, almost the poverty, in which he lived! Only the aristos hated him, and the fat ...

Lady Molly Of Scotland Yard3 reviews
Emmuska Orczy, Baroness Orczy

Kessinger Publishing, 2004

Highly entertaining
I do not profess to know much about Sherlock Holmes, but the style is much the same as the Sherlock Holmes tales I have read, but with a feminist...and feminine...spin. The Baroness Orczy lays the stories out quickly and the stories don't drag on, as some mystery stories and novels do (although you may lament the shortness at times). While some may find Lady Molly's feminine intuition somewhat ...

The Triumph of the Scarlet Pimpernel (Dodo Press)9 reviews
Baroness Emmuska Orczy

Dodo Press, 2008

Wonderful!!!!!!!!
This is one of my favorite pimpernel books. It is so awsome! The story begins with a fortune teller predicting to Robispeirre that the only thing to hinder his taking over France is the Scarlet Pimpernel. So, of course, he goes to Chauvelin, who once again sets masterful plans for the Pimpernel's capture. One of the things that I liked about this book was the simplicity of plot. No more ...

I Will Repay - Baroness Emmuska Orczy
Baroness Emmuska Orczy

Book Jungle, 2007

Baroness Orczy was a Hungarian who moved to London. She became a novelist, painter, and playwright. This is one of several sequels to The Scarlet Pimpernel. During the most violent days of the French Revolution there was still time for romance. The intrigue makes for an exciting adventure story.
