Mastering the Rubber Guard: Jiu-jitsu for Mixed Martial Arts Competition44 reviews
Eddie Bravo, Erich Krauss, ...

Victory Belt Publishing, 2006

Just skip the first 20 or so pages...
The rubber guard is a powerful system that in my opinion should be part of every no gi jiu-jitsu player's arsenal. Intended to give maximimum control over the opponent, it opens many opportunities for submissions and transitions into even more dominant positions such as the "spider web" while being difficult to defend against. There are some great techniques here, though many of them are ...

Fedor: The Fighting System of the World's Undisputed King of MMA9 reviews
Glen Cordoza, Fedor Emilianenko, ...

Victory Belt Publishing, 2008

Excellent overview and illustrations
It's great to see a book from the champ that's well laid out, and not too expensive. Would have liked to have read more discussion of fighting philosophy, which is the only knock on this book. The illustrations and explanations are first rate for anyone who practices MMA, or who just wants to understand technique and strategy.

Mixed Martial Arts: The Book of Knowledge41 reviews
Bj Penn; Glen Cordoza; Erich Krauss

Victory Belt Publishing, 2007

Must Buy
I love this book! I strongly reccommend it for anybody who is interested in MMA. It does not matter if you are a beginner or a seasoned veteran of the sport. The instructions are not too complexed, but it is detailed enough to help you out. This book covers every phase of MMA. BJ does a great job leaving options for you. He makes a lot of great points about fighting. Must buy

Beyond the Lion's Den11 reviews
Ken Shamrock; Erich Krauss

Charles E Tuttle Co, 2005

Apology overdue, to everyone offended.....
I am so sorry to all whom I've upset and offended with my online blogs/rantings. This is my promise to produce heretofore no more politically oriented, morally offensive pieces of diatribe that I completly let myself get carried away with. All too often I let opinions and guesswork and self-interest overcome my actually mundane, sober personality. Please forgive me. That's all I can ...

The Mixed Martial Arts Instruction Manual: Striking1 review
Anderson Silva, Erich Krauss, ...

Victory Belt Publishing, 2008

BEST STRIKING BOOK EVER
It is really difficult to find a good book on striking. Most of the time, they just show a couple of moves that you can find in every other book. Not in Anderson Silva's instruction manual. He shows the proper way to throw basic and advance strikes, and then goes on to show dozens of ways to set those strikes up through movement. He covers advanced footwork, advanced counterattacks, and dozens of ...

Karo Parisyan, Erich Krauss, ...

Victory Belt Publishing, 2008

im a judoka and this book is one of the best available. it reminds all judoka to stop relying on the gi. the techniques are completely different from anything ive ever see before. also ive never seen such detail in a martial arts book. you literally get 3 camera angles for most techniques. the only thing i would say is if you dont have any judo experience you'll problably have trouble with this ...

Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu: Revolutionizing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu12 reviews
Dave Camarillo, Erich Krauss

Tuttle Publishing, 2006

Camarillo combines Judo & BJJ
This book was put out by Victory Belt Publishing, which is fast becoming my favorite martial-arts publishing company. Dave Camarillo have been practicing Judo since before his teens, and is a world-class competitor. He combines years of experience in this sport with the techniques of BJJ, creating a system of gi-based grappling that is more than the sum of its parts. The book begins with ...

X-Guard: For Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, No Gi Grappling, and Mixed Martial Arts5 reviews
Marcelo Garcia, Glen Cordoza, ...

Victory Belt Publishing, 2008

Excellent book at an excellent price
I was excited to get this book and it completely lived up to my expectations. Like the other Krauss-Cordoza collaborations from Victory Belt publishing this is a very well put together book printed on high grade glossy paper, with detailed high quality multiple-angle shots of the techniques and very good explanation including the physical mechanics of the movement and advice on strategy of when ...

Muay Thai Unleashed6 reviews
Erich Krauss

McGraw-Hill, 2006

Krauss a great teacher
Comparing both Krauss's JiuJitsu Unleashed to this book is like comparing apples and oranges. There is no correlation as they are altogether different disciplines. This was the first martial arts instructional book I have read on the art of striking, and I found it to be very edifying. The art of Mui Thai is a lot more versatile and practical than any other striking combat discipline, so I found ...

Wrestling for Fighting: The Natural Way15 reviews
Randy Couture; Erich Krauss; Glen Cordoza

Victory Belt Publishing, 2007

As the title suggests.....
Randy Couture has been one of the poster boys for Mixed Martial Arts competition in recent years - and a good one at that. His words are well thought out, he's articulate, hard-working and talented. A lot is made of his age, as well. However, I don't think it means a great deal except to say he's an example of what hard work and good attitude can acheive. Erich Krauss and Glen Cordoza do a ...

Warriors Of The Ultimate Fighting Championship1 review
Erich Krauss

Citadel, 2004

Worthwhile, but not as good as 'Brawl'
This book provides a good overview of the UFC since it's beginnings, providing a summary of how the sport got started and has evolved, the styles of fighting and profiles of various fighters. Unfortunately, it's not nearly as good or thorough as "Brawl", which is also written by Erich Krauss. Also many of the same fighters profiled in this book are profiled in 'Brawl,' so a lot of the ...

Little Evil: One Ultimate Fighter's Rise to the Top18 reviews
Jens Pulver, Erich Krauss

captivating story
I enjoyed this book. From his difficult childhood to becoming a UFC champion, the author talks about perseverance, depression, fighting his own demons, and choices in life.

Wave of Destruction: The Stories of Four Families and History's Deadliest Tsunami6 reviews
Erich Krauss

Rodale Books, 2005

A moving tale
There are not many books that can bring me to tears, but this one did it. The lives of the people in the book are as amazing as they are sad. It reminded me just how strong some people can be. And just how evil others can be. In the middle of the worst natural disater in history people were actually praying on those who had just lost everything. I spent some time in Thailand years ago, but I ...

Wall of Flame: The Heroic Battle to Save Southern California4 reviews
Erich Krauss

Wiley, 2006

An Exceptional Book on Firefighting
My uncle told me that I would love this book, and he was right. Although I don't fight fire, most of my family does. I grew up around firefighters as a child, but I didn't truly understand what they went through on a big fire until I read this book. It made me realize that when a big one hits, there is very little firefighters can do but steer the blaze around threatened communities. The ...

Brawl: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Mixed Martial Arts Competition16 reviews
Erich Krauss, Bret Aita

Ecw Press, 2002

awesome
This is a phenomenal read. Heres what i like about this book: the book is so eloquently written that it doesn't need any pictures (i.e the authors do a great job of describing the fights.) The stories are exceptionally interesting as well as inspiring for soon to be mixed martial arts fighters. My favorite of the book was the description of Igor vovchanchin's early years, "vovchanchin grew up in ...

On The Line: Inside the U.S. Border Patrol9 reviews
Alex Pacheco, Erich Krauss

Citadel, 2005

Couldn't put it down.
I received this book in the middle of finals and made the mistake of opening the cover. I couldn't put it down. I purchased the book to learn more about the USBP and now I want to be an Agent! The proud history of the USBP is illustrated well as is the current status of the organization. The author really seems to know what he is writing about and must've interviewed a hundred people.
