Like hearing the real deal from a friend
This entire book is in author Erika Lenkert's friendly voice as she fills the reader in on all the important things a pregnant woman needs to know, adding a dash of her own experiences and down-to-earth perspectives. I love that she suggests traveling. (Can't dwell on it because for me traveling right now includes a 50% potty trained three year old and an eight-month old who doesn't sleep ...

Excellent Guide for Trip to San Francisco Area
I needed to plan a 3-day visit to the San Francisco area, and this book proved to be perfect for that. Far better than random information available on the web. I chose a wonderful small hotel from the book and loved it. Also chose restaraunts, grand and small, with excellent results. Chose a variety of sites to visit as a tourist from the book's descriptions. Also charted a 1-day trip ...

Best way to see San Fran...
My wife and I picked this book thinking it would be a good way to see the city. It was not... it was the BEST. We saw so much of San Francisco thanks to this book. We had 8 days to spend there and managed to do 9 of the 11 walks. We went everywhere and saw so much from Haight Ashbury to Golden Gate Park to Nob Hill, the SoMa district... EVERYWHERE. It was great because we could go at our own ...

Trip to wine country
I'm planning a trip to wine country and needed some information, not an encyclopedia's worth. This was concise and will be handy to take with me. It is laid out geographically which will make it that much easier to see the wineries that I want to see.

Great book!!!
After reading the book from cover to cover, I feel like I am now an expert on San Francisco! We have been there before, but are looking forward to exploring (next month)areas of SF that we haven't been to yet. The in depth reporting, and mapping, of all areas of the city will make it a breeze to get around in. It was a good idea for them to put a fold out map in the book as well. Can't wait to go!

Wonderful book!
This is absolutely the most up-to-date book on California. I wanted to know a lot about where to go for wineries, and this was the perfect book. Plus it gives a neat, accurate description of accomodations and where-to-go's. A must have for all travel guide fans.

LOVE it!
I had checked this book out at the library way too many times and finally decided to buy. It has tons of awesome recipes. It may seem a bit extravagant if you are not an experienced raw foodist as many ingredients are unusual to the average American. My faves so far: fried rice, carrot cake, house dressing, water.

Essentials and great food recommendations
I have been to San Francisco dozens of times and used at least five different travel guide books. I especially liked this one because the author gave a real sense of the places and gave me a better idea of whether I wanted to go to the places--especially when it came to restaurants. As far as sights go, all the essentials are covered. And there are plenty of hotels, restaurants, and shops to ...

Very reliable--never steered us wrong!
My wife and I bought this book in preparation for a week-long trip down the California coast in August 2006. We started with a couple of days in Napa and Sonoma and visited a number of wineries, including several recommended by Frommer's. The recommended ones (including Schramsberg, Artesa and Chateau St. Jean) were all highlights of our visit, and we found ourselves wishing that we had gone to ...

Comprehensive Guide
Overall, a well-organized introduction to the high points (and high life) of Southern CA. Excellent "mini-tour" suggestions, complete with stop-by-stop itineraries. Could use a bit of polish on specifics, like festival dates and contact info, but otherwise, a great planning resource. Focus is primarily on upscale establishments, hotels and eateries, definitely not for those who are looking to ...
