Harrison's Neurology in Clinical Medicine2 reviews
Stephen Hauser, Dennis Kasper, ...

McGraw-Hill Professional, 2006

Great to have, even if you have the full Harrison's
This is a great book with many good images. Even though I have the Harrison's 17e (the big one) this is still very useful as it is much more wieldy.

Primary Cardiology2 reviews

W.B. Saunders Company, 1998

Primary Cardiology
The best thing I liked this book is the clear, actual and concise presentation of the subject. It is an excellent book for primary care physicians and internists. Primary Cardiology is divided into three parts. Part 1 covers fundamental principles thar underlie evidence-based medicine and translation of advances in science to the practice of medicine. Part 2 rational approaches to common ...

Drugs for the Heart4 reviews

W.B. Saunders Company, 2001

Classic cardiovascular drugs book
This is a classic of cardiovascular medicine. In its newest edition Opie's book is excellent in many ways: first, it is a small book, almost a pocket-book, and loaded with concise yet precise infformation. It is the kind of book you can put in your black bag and you can belive it will be valuable anywhere, from the ICU to the ambulatory. There are many excellent chapters on drugs, all of them ...

Eugene Braunwald MD MD(hon) ScD(hon) FRCP, Braunwald

Great Atlas
I love this Atlas for congenital heart disease. It is clear cut with wonderful illustrations and photographs. It covers the basic heart lesions, doesn't go into extreme detail, but good overall atlas and reference.

Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine2 reviews
T.R. Harrison

McGraw-Hill Professional, 1990

2400 pages of disease!
This is an excellent comprehensive medical text covering practically every aspect of Internal Medicine. A must for the Primary Care Physician. Personally, I would get the two volume set as the single thick back has a tendancy to break away from the binding.

Atlas of Vascular Disease1 review
Eugene Braunwald

Current Medicine, 2000

A must have for the Vascular Medicine specialist
The Title is a little misleading, this book should be treated as a concise text book of vascular medicine. It presents key vascular medicine concepts in a colorful and illustrated easy to read fashion.

Atlas of Internal Medicine3 reviews

Current Medicine, 1999

Great Atlas!
I just found out about this book today and spent just a few minutes leafing through it and that was enought for me to decide that it would be a great atlas to have on hand for general reference on all the major organ systems and their disease manisfestations. It seems like it would be a great (broad/generalist) review for the boards. I hope to acquire this book soon...!

Atlas of Nuclear Cardiology2 reviews

Current Medicine Group, 2008

Great to explain difficult concepts
I got this book during my nuclear cardiology fellowhip and I found it to be an excellent resource to explain some harder to understand concepts. As with other books in the series it works as a concise text and a great review book.

Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine 16e (Two-Volume Set)44 reviews
Dennis L. Kasper, Eugene Braunwald, ...

McGraw-Hill Professional, 2004

Bible for medical students
No matter what your professors/classmates/nay-sayers say about how thick and heavy, convoluted or expensive this book is, it doesn't matter because YOU NEED THIS BOOK if you are a medical student, period. In fact, you'll save money in the long run b/c this book will pre-empt your need for many other books (not all, so be careful).

Harrison's 14 CD-ROM1 review
Anthony S. Fauci, Eugene Braunwald, ...

McGraw-Hill Companies, 1998

Harrison's is essential
I have used Harrisons since the eighties. I am a Clinical Psychologist dealing with patients who often have multiple medical problems. Harrison's is a complete solution to getting up to the date medical information, not only the book and CD but also the Website. It is expensive, but if you only ever buy one medical text, this has to be the one.

Harrison's Platinum Edition43 reviews
Anthony S. Fauci MD, Eugene Braunwald MD, ...

Mcgraw-Hill (Tx), 1999

For the lay person---NOT!!!
There is a reason why med students learn anatomy, histology, embryology, physiology, and biochemistry before picking up Harrison's, so I snicker when non-MD's think they can read and understand ( with the help of Taber's medical dictionary, which by the way is used by nurses, physicians in training use Dorland's) a medical textbook, especially one like Harrison's.( What is especially humorous is ...

Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine (2 Vol Set)19 reviews
Anthony Fauci, Eugene Braunwald, ...

McGraw-Hill Professional, 2008

Harrison's still a classic, but more manageable
Having Harrison's in a two volume set makes using it much more convenient. My wife, the physician has rheumatoid arthritis and trying to lug the single volume edition off the shelf for reference, was painful. The two volume set contains evrything the single does, even up-dated, but is lighter to use.
