A Little Mystery in Manhattan
The Remarkable Return of Winston Potter Crisply is the best book I have ever read. I finished it in 3 days. The point of this book, is that a boy, Winston Potter Crisply, has been sighted by his two younger siblings. He is supposed to be away at college, so they want to know why he's back and why he hasn't told his family. His brother and sister follow him all around Manhattan trying to be ...

Our three year old LOVES this book.
Our son LOVES this book and asks for it almost daily. We returned it to the library and bought our own copy. He is terrified of swimming pools this summer and perhaps is working through some of his fears. I enjoy the loving looks each family member has for each other in the illustrations, and the text describes the enjoyment the father and daughter get from sharing their love of swimming. The ...

New shoes are needed but only blue will do.
This is a great little book that is fun to read out loud to children. The story is simple but imaginative and the illustrations add to the story without being distracting. New readers will add this to their list of "I can read this all by myself" books. The story is about a young person who needs a new pair of shoes but feels that only blue shoes will do. Can a blue pair be found? Read it and ...

The best toddler book in our home library!
"Benny Bakes a Cake" has achieved legendary status in our home. We received it as a gift in 1993, for our first son's first birthday. It was the first "story" book that he truly understood -- thanks to the simple but appealing illustrations, the straightforward text, and the story elements that toddlers find so riveting: a dog, a cake, a birthday. Ten years and three more boys later, the book ...

3 month old LOVED it
My infant son (now ten) absolutely adored this book, I guess maybe at least partly because of the bright colors. He would stare and stare and get all excited and giggly. And later he liked the story too. Not much of a story from an adult perspective, but boy oh boy does the author have a line to the hearts of the very small. I treasure our beaten and slobbered on old copy of this book like his ...

A Bedtime Story Adults Can Love Too
We found a copy of this book at a thrift store and it immediately became the bedtime favorite of my 20 month old daughter. Better yet, it became MY favorite bedtime story. Unlike most typical bedtime fare, this book offers something special for children and adults alike. Eve Rice presents incredibly detailed drawings of New York City and its inhabitants as "Goodnight creeps over the rooftops ...

NICE LITTLE READING STARTER
This one is well done. It is a collection of five stories, Pennies, A Garden, A Nice Walk, Missing and Papa's Lemonade. The dog characters are cute and well drawn. The text is ideal for a starter in reading and fits the illustrations quite well. Recommend this one if you can find it.
What Sadie sang

Enjoy a Children's Classic!
This kiddie-lit classic is a wonderful story of the understanding between mother and child. Baby Sadie sings her way home, causing strangers to wonder if she is sick or hungry or thirsty, but her mother understands that Sadie is singing. The story is a touching one that children will enjoy. I still have fond memories of my mother reading this book to me when I was a little girl.
