I am VERY Happy with this Book - great 4 self-study
In order to take an advanced statistics course (since I have been out of college awhile) I have to take a calculus test. They gave me a sample of 60 questions from prior years and recomended a text that cost $180!!! Well for 1/15 of the price of the expensive text, I can get about 55 out of 60 questions answered through this one. The ones that are not covered in this book pertain to complex ...

Just the facts
If you are wanting to hit all the main ideas of matrices, this book is very helpful. A lot of the topics covered in the Matrix Operations book is covered in here. Personally, I would look here first. The chapters are broken down a bit more, so you can focus on what you want to work on. The answers aren't printed in this one like other books. In the supplementary problems, some have answers ...

I found it invaluable when I was learning modern algebra on my own
Shortly after graduating from college with a math major, I realized that I needed some experience in modern or abstract algebra. For reasons that I no longer recall, I was able to obtain the major without taking a course in algebra. My undergraduate college offered two courses in abstract algebra, but rather than pay the full tuition, I asked the chair of the department if I could take some form ...

Great for Trigononometry exams
I am observing that my test scores on tests on tests involving trigonometery are increasing, thanks to this thin aid. It is thin, yet it is good. That is almost impossible. This book is one of the best created. Trigonometry is hard, and is mentioned and applied almost everywhere. This book is comphrehensive and is both easy and advanced. Everyone should have this. You can have knowledge of math, ...

Too much background, still was worth the purchase price
When I was an undergraduate, I wanted to take a course in modern algebra, but my only option was to take it as an independent study. I was allowed to do so with the understanding that I was on my own, the instructor had little time to devote to explaining things. Therefore, the first thing I did was buy this book. I found it a little too low level at the beginning; I was able to skim the first ...

This is a great book
Being a college student,I do not agree with the first review at all. This is a great book. It covers the FUNDAMENTALS of college algebra, discrete mathematics, trigonometry, analytic geomety, and calculus. This study guide is the best tutor you could ask for. It really produces results without overwhelming you with unnecessary details. You get a complete overview of the subject. Plus you get ...

Excellent review book or supplemental book
As a math major and tutor I enjoyed this book and found it helpful when I needed supplemental exercises that were already worked out. For concepts I prefer "The Calculus Lifesaver". Another book worth mentioning is "The Humongous Book of Calculus Problems". Both are excellent books that explain some of the why's behind the problems. Of course there is no replacing a good teacher or tutor. ...

As a supplemental text or as a set of problems for a crash review of trigonometry, it has no equal Proficiency in trigonometry i
Proficiency in trigonometry is a skill needed to succeed in calculus, physics and many professions. Angles appear everywhere in the world and people in all areas of construction and surveying need to know how to work with them and reason from a set of givens to extract the unknowns. Like most of the books in the Schaum's series, this one is best used as a supplement to a main text or as a source ...
