life-changing
I discovered this book over 15 years ago. I don't know what I would think of it now, but then it really opened my eyes to why I was eating compulsively. In fact, it began a whole chain of events that eventually led to a different way of life.

I am a 20 yr old college student who has struggled with episodes of major depression. It became very debilitating and a couple months ago I asked my parents to take me to the emergency room because of the extreme amount of emotional pain I was in. There were many days where I had to fight just to get through the day. When I was in the worst stages, I had no understanding of what was causing me to ...

Easy to understand
I bought this book on an impulse. I have family with ADD and manic depression. I read through the book in 2 days, because it was so easy to read and understand. The author does a lot of explaining that makes sense to me and it fits my family members who suffer from depression. This book turned a light on in my brain as to the "why, who and how comes" of depression. I am buying more of these to ...

Thumbs Up! Frank Minirth, Les Carter
This book has been an amazing gift for me. I'm a Christian who thought I knew how to forgive until I was offended beyond my wildest dreams and struggled with anger, bitterness and confusion that led me to read the book. The order of chapters is such that a concept in one chapter builds up to the next. The first 3 chapters allows one to examine the wrong that has been done and acknowledge it for ...

Very helpful and not cheesy like most self-help books
I'm good at being angry. I make people laugh with my cutting sarcastic humor - unless of course, they are the target. I have the power in my tongue to both raise people up from the pits and turn someone inside out or become a flame-thrower and torch an entire room to a crisp. I also use anger in the gym and have built a strong body. But what this workbook is making me realize is that I could ...

Don't be fooled by the children
who threw a tantrum because this book included Christian principles and therefore gave it only one star. It's very easy to read and makes VERY CLEAR points. You can not read this book and fail to understand codependency (which most of us suffer to some small degree) and the solutions. If you don't agree with a few small points, don't whine and just skip them. Excellent, excellent book.

Educational, Informative, and Inspiring!
This book helped me understand a lot of the reasons for my intense social anxiety. Of course, working through the anxiety with a professional Christian counselor was the biggest help for me personally, but this book was a great addition to the therapeutic process. The book offers great spiritual insight into the agony of anxiety.

Great Daily Devotional Book for Recovering Christians
This book has a great amount of wisdom within it's pages. It really unveils the Serenity prayer from a Christian viewpoint. Each devotional focuses on one of the key words in the Serenity Prayer (God, Grant, Serenity, Accept, etc) and has a discussion topic around that word. The words are cycled throughout the year. Why is this book out of print - I don't know!?!?! PS- The only negative point is ...

Love Hunger Helped Me Understand My Problems
I found the book "Love Hunger" extremely helpful. It helped me to better understand my compulsive eating, and gave me a realistic and healthy food plan that I could follow. When I first read this book and followed the plan, I lost 19 pounds in 9 weeks (which is what most health experts suggest). But at some point I thought I knew better than they did, and went off the plan. I'm now close to ...
