CIO Best Practices: Enabling Strategic Value with Information Technology (Wiley and SAS Business Series)7 reviews
Joe Stenzel, Gary Cokins, ...

Wiley, 2007

Read This Book ...It Is Excellent!
As someone who has been a CIO four times, served as an interim CIO too many time to count, wrote "CIO Wisdom" and will be coming out with "CIO Perspectives", I would like to fully endorse "CIO Best Practices". Somewhere in the book it states "all CIOs live in a competitive world and excellent customer relationship management has become a competitive advantage" This book accomplished ...

Gary Hill: Selected Works & Catalogue Raisonne1 review
Chrissie Iles, Heinz Liesbrock, ...

Dumont, 2002

The Complete Gary Hill
This is the most incredible book I have ever seen. It has images and descriptions of virtually every installation, video tape, and performance Gary Hill has ever done. The details are great. For each installation there is a description of the installation, a description of the materials involved, the number of editions and who bought them, a list of literature about the piece, and it's exhibition ...

Autism: From Research to Individualized Practice3 reviews
Dina E. Hill

Jessica Kingsley Publishers, 2002

Guide to clinical practice
I have worked for over twenty years with children and adolescents in private psychotherapy practice and as the director of a non profit family clinic. Working with children with a broad spectrum of Developmental Disorders is a tremenduous challenge for the family and the clinician. As the author, Robin Gabriels often states in her book, the disorder is complicated in nature and requires a ...

The Debut Tour1 review
Gary Hill

Amazon, 2007

Sci-Fi and Heavy Metal Fans Rejoice
I love short stories because they are perfect for a quick reading fix when you take the train back and forth to work (like I do). This particular story mixes two of my favorite genres; sci-fi and heavy metal music. It's difficult to write descriptively when you are dealing with the small confines of a short story but Gary Hill has managed to capture the anxiety and terror of the central ...

Yyrkoon's Vision - Extreme Lovecraftian Metal1 review
Gary Hill

Amazon, 2007

A great start or an excellent addition
I really enjoyed "The Strange Sound of Cthulhu" so when this came up, I definitely had to get it. I have never listened to Yyrkoon's music (and quite honestly, many of the bands in the book are not part of my regular playlist) but that doesn't take away from the stories about how H.P. Lovecraft has influenced their music. One of the strong points to all of this is the consistency throughout. ...

Video Spaces: Eight Installations1 review
Barbara London, Judith Barry, ...

The Museum of Modern Art, New York, 2002

Buy This Book
First of all, "Chip" Delaney was not the author of this book, although he did write a nifty introduction relating science fiction to performance art. Barbara London's essay and chapters on the eight artists in the NYMOMA show are outstanding! Anyone curious about performance art AND any serious student of this vital topic would do well to consult this book. Each chapter focuses on an artist in ...

The Strange Sound of Cthulhu: Music Inspired by the Writings of H. P. Lovecraft2 reviews
Gary Hill

Lulu.com, 2006

Excellent for Lovecraft or music lovers alike
The Strange Sound of Cthulhu starts with an introduction to Lovecraft's life. This provides good background for readers who are there for the musical aspect and unfamiliar with his writing. It is strait-forward, giving just the information needed to understand how he could still have an impact on music today, almost seventy years after his death. The rest of the book is broken down into the ...

Who's in Charge Here: The Tangled Web of School Governance and Policy1 review

Brookings Institution Press, 2004

Insights regarding the future of public education
This is an excellent book that expresses the current confusion of public school governance. Each article discusses, from a different perspective, political and legual issues that have changed the face of public schools in America. Should the federal government be involved in public education? What will be the result of such a change? What has happened to local control? What does the ...

The Close Call1 review
Gary Hill

Amazon, 2007

Another good read
With my free time getting more and more limited as I get older, I really enjoy reading short stories. Hill's previous "Debut Tour" was perfect for me due to it's mixture of heavy metal and sci-fi. Here he goes for the vampire/detective genre and it too is written in the first person. I like this one also because he we can really feel what the character feels. He gives enough details so that ...

Hidden Turnings1 review

Teens, 1990

Hidden Turnings
Hidden Turnings, edited and assembeled by Diana Wayne-Jones, is a teriffic collection of short stories mostly in the science-fiction, or fantasy genre. This book contains short stories such as Fifty-Fafty, The Master (my personal favorite), and many more. I only gave this book three stars because although I liked Hidden Turnings, it was an average book, with not many exceptional features. It ...

Still Life1 review
Gary Hill

Amazon, 2007

Not what I expected
You don't really "get" the title until the end. I like that because during this short, I kept thinking about how the title was going to make it into the story. This one is kind of Indiana Jones-ish but without the light-hearted moments. Also, this one incorporates a proverb or lesson (but I won't give it away). All of his shorts have been really fun "reads" and I can't wait for the next batch.

Deep out of the South came an adventure. Michael Evans found himself entwined in an awful legacy of hate, bigotry and deceit. Amazed by the Power of God (Power Compendium)
Frank DeCenso, Bill Johnson, ...

Destiny Image, 2009

The need for power ministry is as strong today as it was when Jesus and the apostles walked the earth. The need for demonstrations of God s powerful love, exhibited through His church, will demolish strongholds of unbelief and relativism, as well as tear down cultural barriers that may bring confusion when only the words of the good news are shared, but its power is neglected. When Jesus and the apostles proclaimed the good news of salvation to ...

People Who Don't Know They're Dead: How They Attach Themselves to Unsuspecting Bystanders and What to Do ...13 reviews
Gary Leon Hill

Weiser Books, 2005

Much Truth and Wisdom
Having read the works of Drs. Wickland, Fiore, Sagan, and others cited by the author, I see much truth and wisdom in this book, which is well written and very informative. Unfortunately, it is beyond the boggle threshold of many people, including most of the others who have reviewed the book. Unlike the other reviewers, I don't pretend to have a full grasp of absolute truth, if there is ...
