Home Landscaping: Midwest Region: Including Southern Canada (Home Landscaping)9 reviews
Roger Holmes, Greg Grant

Creative Homeowner, 1999

An excellent resource!
A big problem I've had with gardening books is that they so often cover areas with different climates (such as the wet Pacific Northwest) than that which I have to face here in the American Midwest. This book, however, has shown itself to be an excellent resource! It starts out with a portfolio of 23 designs, giving the reader excellent advice on appearance and what plants to use, complete with ...

52, Vol. 48 reviews
Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, ...

DC Comics, 2007

review for all four volumes
DC's 52 was highly ambitious, which made me more than a little nervous, since projects as big as these usually fall flat. With the big three missing, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, DC picks up some acilliary characters and kind of turns them into the modern age superheroes. Really DC is trying to kick start some other books. But they do a good job, especially since there is a book a week. ...

Northeast Home Landscaping: Including Southeast Canada (Home Landscaping)4 reviews
Roger Holmes, Greg Grant

Creative Homeowner, 2006

A great gardening book for beginners...
I live in the Northeast and am a novice gardener. This book is great because it gives you a lot of different garden plans, and let's you see what plants look good together and work well together in similar conditions. I also like that it shows a lot of the garden plans in different seasons, and in some cases shows you what your garden will look like when you plant it, then in five years, or ten ...

Essential Moon Knight, Vol. 2 (Marvel Essentials)4 reviews
Doug Moench, Jack S. Harris, ...

Marvel Comics, 2007

Moon Knight is the Best
Its been a little more than a year since volume 1 came out, and I've found that volume 2 is as good or even better than the first one. The art continues to improve, and being in black and white just adds to the mysterious feel of Moon Knight. This volume contains issues 11-30 of the first run of Moon Knight comics, first published in the 1980's. It continues Moon Knights battles with the ...

Excellent! Clear instructions with great diagrams.
This book is an excellent guide for the new or veteran homeowner. It's filled with lots of ideas and a variety of plants including trees, shrubs, perennials, groundcovers and a few annuals. It offers a samples of typical planting scenarios for the home landscaper. Identifying each design as good for sun or shade and showing the variations is one of the best features. The island of Hawaii teems with lofty volcanic peeks - Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa - remote tropical forests, water-carved valleys, frozen fields of lava, black and empty stretches of desert, white- and green-sand beaches, fountains of fire, cattle-grazing pastures, rugged coastlines and wind-swept cliffs. Mid-Atlantic Home Landscaping2 reviews
Roger Holmes, Greg Grant

Creative Homeowner, 2005

Excellent resource for new or renewing landscaping
I owned the previous edition of this book, and this updated version is even better than the original. The illustrations are particularly useful: what a specific garden would look like when just planted, 5 years later, and 15 years later--something that many people have difficulty envisioning. The book also devotes several pages each to specific situations, such as different treatments for a ...

Spawn Collection, Vol. 25 reviews
Todd McFarlane, Grant Morrison, ...

Image Comics, 2007

Great storyline, great artwork, great everything!
Well, I finally received this book - so it has apparently come out finally (though spawn.com still says it came out in September). The book is HUGE and well worth the wait, and well worth the money I put out for it. I'm still delving into the Spawn mythos, so these books have been a great start for me. Get it!

I thought this book was very informative. It described quickly the geology and other "natural" facts about the area as well as supply excellent descriptions of the trails. It is small enough to carry with you.

McFarlane Makes Marvel Shiver
Todd McFarlane and Rob Liefeld and their merry band of inkers and scribblers moved on from the publishing slaughterhouse of Marvel Comics to form their own brand of magic in Image. Soon, along with Marvel and DC, they became legion. Too many years had passed with artists treated badly, raped of thier work and paid a pittance for their scemes and visions. So says Frank Miller in the foreward to ...
