Stories of Roland Told to the Children (Yesterday's Classics)
H. E. Marshall

Ten illustrated stories from the song of Roland, simply but effectively told, relating how Roland follows the bravest knights of Charlemagne into battle, how Roland and Oliver meet their deaths, of Charlemagne's vengeance on Marsil the Saracen and of the punishment of the traitor Ganelon. Our Empire Story (Yesterday's Classics)1 review
H. E. Marshall

Yesterday's Classics, 2006

Great reading, even for young children
I love all H.E. Marshalls books of history and was very happy to find her books back in print (I'd been printing them from the Baldwin Project). I read them to my young kids at bed time and they love the stories. The only original print book I have of hers is "A History of France" which has dates of the historical events and figures are in the outer margins. This gives the reader a much better ...

Scotland's Story (Yesterday's Classics)3 reviews
H. E. Marshall

Yesterday's Classics, 2005

Puts the "story" back into "history"!
This delightful book recounts the history of Scotland in language simple enough for a child to understand and appreciate, yet colourful and detailed enough to provide an accurate and comprehensive treatment of this vast subject. It transports the reader to another world, of mighty rulers, daring knights and heroic princes. It is so riveting that I read it three times in a row when I was seven, ...

loved this book....
I read this aloud last spring to my 3 boys, ages 10, 12, and 13. They all really enjoyed it and I enjoyed reading it. The only (small) negative I could give it is that there are several spelling mistakes-mostly a missing letter in a word. I corrected that as we went along for the next time I read it aloud. It really wasn't a problem but I just thought I should point that out. We are now reading ...
