XML: The Complete Reference8 reviews
Heather Williamson

McGraw-Hill Companies, 2001

XML: The Complete Reference
The book XML: The Complete Reference has been of great use to me. I had taken a class on web sites and document designs, for my company, and the class used XML: The Complete Reference as a guide. I thought that Ms. Williamson did an excellant job creating a guide and reference book for XML. I use it whenever I have any questions while using XML. It has been wonderful and a great help.

SMIL for Dummies1 review
Heather Williamson

Hungry Minds, 2001

A bit disappointed
I've been using SMIL for about a year now and was hoping that this book would give me a good single reference to use in leiu of the W3C documentation which can be a bit dry. I was actually encouraged when I found out this book was being delayed, since I figured that meant that SMIL 2.0 related material was being included. My problems with this book are two-fold: First,SMIL 1.0 and SMIL 2.0 is ...

Dreamweaver in a Nutshell4 reviews
Bruce Epstein, Heather Williamson

O'Reilly Media, Inc., 2001

One for the desktop, not the bookshelf
I've used Dreamweaver since version 1.2, and while DW keeps getting better, it's also undoubtedly becoming more complex. This book has stopped me from being one of those people that just stays with the basic feature set, into really knowing and using every aspect of Dreamweaver. Like many (most?) of the O'Reilly books, this is one of those books you'll want to keep handy on your desk. If you want ...

Not just a cookbook
Unlike "JMX in Action" from Manning, this book goes beyond the How To of JMX. It introduces the reader to the fundamental problems of systems management, before jumping into concrete implementations. It explains the history of the industry from the days when hundreds of people shared one mainframe and sys-admin was the same as god, to the present days when everyone has access to hundreds of ...

A good book for Beginners and Novices
I have used this book as a learning tool in training classes and have found it gives a sound foundation on DHTML and how it is implemented in Netscape and IE's current supported versions.
