Hetzer Jagdpanzer (Schiffer Military, Vol 27)1 review
Horst Scheibert

Schiffer Publishing, 1990

Target acquired visually, but missed the mark
I fall for it every time: I see an interesting title that was translated from a German original, I buy it, and proceed to be totally ticked off at the miserable quality produced by quickie book publishers. The typos, poor spelling, and downright mistranslation of this book ruins it for me. I lay the blame at the feet of the publisher (Schiffer, in Pennsylvania) rather than the author; after all, ...

Panzer Grenadier Division: Grossdeutschland - Specials series (6009)3 reviews
Horst Scheibert

Squadron/Signal Publications, 1993

An excellent glipse into an elite Werhmacht unit
Panzer Grenadier Division: Grossdeutschand is something of a pictorial history of one of the German Wehrmacht's most illustrious units. Often overshadowed by the accomplishments and atrocities by her sister units of the Waffen SS, it is generally agreed by both historians and contemporaries that the Grossdeutschand divisions fought with the same levels of elan, without the stains of dishonor. ...

Sturmgeschutz 40/the Long Gun Versions (Schiffer Military History, Vol 33)1 review
Horst Scheibert

Schiffer Publishing, 1991

Good companion to the Squadron/Signal book
Provides some good pictures and a decent general history of the long barrel assualt gun. The Squadron/Signal book provides some color plates of this gun which would have been helpful in this book. The line drawings and detail photographs are very good.

The King Tiger Tank1 review
Horst Scheibert

Schiffer Publishing, 1989

A somewhat misleading title...........
This slim volume (48 pages) should have been titled " The King Tiger - a photoessay", as it consists of a series of photographs with (mostly) attached captions. Action shots are rare, and include the well-worn "newsreel" sequences. However, at its price, it's probably not very bad value. One still needs to wait for Jean Restayn to turn his remarkable gifts to a "King Tiger" title to do full ...

Panzer- A Pictorial Documentation of the German Battle Tanks of World War II4 reviews

Schiffer Publishing, 1989

Excellent photo reference for Panzertruppe equipment
For a book which claims to be a pictoral history, I find it absurd to fault it for having mostly pictures with captions. It is exactly what it claims to be: A pictoral documentation. And fine one it is. A nice addition to any Panzer nut's library.

Die Trager des Deutschen Kreuzes in Gold: Das Heer1 review
Horst Scheibert

Podzun-Pallas-Verlag, 1983

The German Cross In Gold
Although printed in German, it is not too difficult to navigate through this book as thier is not too much text except for the 15,000 odd names of the medals recipients. It also contains copies of the accompanying certificates as well as a small number of pictures. The details of the recipients include first and surnames, unit, rank and date of award. I think that if you are lucky enough to find ...

Panzerkampfwagen V: Panther (Schiffer Military History, Vol 37)2 reviews
Horst Scheibert

Schiffer Publishing, 1991

A pictorial history of the Panther as a battle tank
This book is basically a pictorial history of the Panther as a battle tank, there is not much text, just a few introduction paragraphs, then the rest of the information is in the caption of the pictures. The pictures are mostly never before published or rarely published. The book only covers the Panther as a battle tank with the Ausf. D, Ausf. A, and Ausf. G versions covered. There is no pictures ...

Not even worth half the S&H
Ordered 6 books at same time. One, the "Tiger Family" was just 47 pages of pictures and hardly any words and not informative at all. $8.39 + 3.99
