Great value, Great everything else, Highly recommended
This is a surprisingly good read at an even more surprising value. The art is black and white, but it looks clear and clean, and great. The paper is lower quality then what you'll find on modern Marvel/DC tradepaper backs but it seems no worse then the kind of paper you get in most Vertigo trade paper backs. And there are a truckload of issues collected. The stories are really cool and ...

One of Spideys best
This may very well be the best spidey story ever told, and that is very strange considering how low on the pole Kraven ranks among Spideys villains. However, Kraven becomes an empathetic character in this story, and watching his dissent into madness from panel to panel is a work of art. The story has a few moments that spidey fans will remember forever, and that's pretty impressive considering ...

WONDERFUL
This trade paperback is a perfect reading experience. I recommend it to everyone even to non-comic book fans because everyone likes to laugh and the art is pretty. I think this is the best writing from Keith Giffen (there is such a thing as way too much Lobo) and J.M. DeMatteis (Andrew Bennet, I ... Vampire).

superior
This entire series of reproductions of the classic Conan comics from the 1960s and 1970s is superior. The details are incredible and the colors are more vivid than in the originals and the paper quality is superior and you will not have to worry about preservation. A great substitute for the originals ( and more affordable).

With Captain America, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, and the Thing around, it's hard to stand out in a crowd - but somehow, the Man-Thing manages it! Citrusville, Florida, faces censorship, prejudice, psychosis, and ghost pirates in stories as relevant today as they were more than twenty years ago! Sorcery, snowmen, and super-soldier serums! Demons, dementia, and D'Spayre await - but have no fear, because, well, if you do... Man-Thing (1974) #15-22 ...

Promising Story, Ruined by Terrible artwork!
A great premise is ruined by some of the worst artwork ever produced by Joe Staton. DeMattis writes a script which tries to shed some light on the Joker's past self, and he does a fine job, but the art is just completely inappropriate for the story. Joe Staton's cartoony visuals just don't fit the story being told and what we have here is the biggest misfire from the fine Legend of the Dark ...

A classic run, but you may already have it.
If you own the Justice League: A New Beginning TPB, you already have all the stories in this volume - minus a new introduction, a 1987 poster reproduced as a two-page spread, and an encyclopedia entry.

Just...not good enough
WETWORKS was a 1990s comic book creation of Filipino artist Whilce Portacio. WETWORKS originally centered on the hardcharging exploits of a group of black ops soldiers who become bonded with golden symbiotes. These symbiotes imbued them with superhuman talents, an edge they desperately needed as they went on to combat the vampire nation. That slam bang series was cancelled after 43 issues, in ...

Chaos and Carnage
The story is chaotic, never takes itself TOO seriously, and captures the character of Spider-Man perfectly. My main gripe has to do with a few large out-of-nowhere plot devices that the writers insert toward the end of the story to help bring about the story's end. I chuckled at the absurdity of the sudden appearence of Deathlok's super-suit, and that was only one example. Still, an ...

I liked it
While I did not read its predacessor "formally the justice league" I had no trouble following the joke behind this. Like most comics I enjoy this book contains characters that are under used and under appreciated on the whole, and they are funny. I am disappointed only by the fact that three of the main characters in this, Sue Dinby, Blue Beetle, and Max Lord are all now dead. And others have ...

Big Keith Giffen Fan
Years ago I got rid of a majority of my moderately extensive comic book collection keeping only the ones I couldn't bear to part with. So, recently I went back through the comics I had kept and found an interesting pattern. A tremendous amount of material by artist and writer Keith Giffen managed to make the final cut. After all this time it finally occurred to me. I'm a big Keith Giffen fan. So ...

A Little More Depth/Length and It Would've Been 5 Stars
A very dramatic, sometimes a bit melodramatic, exploration of one of the Batman's enemies: Two-Face. The theme of the human soul being blessed by a benign and gentle side as well as being tortured by an evil, darker face has long been explored in some famous characters (Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, Gollum, the Incredible Hulk). In this book, the insanity of Two-Face is explored: what drives him to evil ...

A Great Story But The Artwork is Really Lacking...
This is without a doubt the best storyarc that came out of the whole 1999 relaunch of the Superman line of comics. The premise is that Superman must find the missing Lois Lane while trying not to succumb to Kryptonite poisoning (which happened in the previous tradepaperback). Yeah, it does sound like an episode of "Smallville", but trust me, it's written in a mature way that doesn't insult the ...

The best one yet!
These were originally published as JLA #34 - #41. The World War III story is the best one of the JLA series so far. Not only does it bring together many of the previous stories, it also yet again brings forth the basic characters of several of the key JLAers. This is the end of the world saga foretold in several earlier JLA issues. The Injustice League is back as well, recruiting previous ...
