Effective Bible Teaching4 reviews
James C. Wilhoit, Leland Ryken

Baker Academic, 1988

High Praise for Ryken and Wilhoit
I used to teach in a school of biblical studies preparing men to preach. On occasion I would have a student say they had little trouble preaching, but that they couldn't teach a Bible class worth a lick. I recommended this book and still recommend it today-much to students' delight. In fact, our church ordered a dozen of these books to help our our teachers learn how to teach the Bible more ...

The standard on Christian education of adults!
Gangel and Wilhoit address the theology, methods, content, philosophies present in the current arena of Christian adult education. 104 Questions Children ask about Heaven and Angels
This book was enjoyable for myself as well as my 9-year old. The cartoons and explanations as well as scripture verses were helpful and fun. I learned right along with my child. We both would recommend this book and others in the series to those searching and new to the faith. It is reassuring to know the answers to some of those suprising questions my children ask!

Christian Educator's Handbook on Family Life Education, The2 reviews

Baker Books, 2001

Excellent source book
I found the book very helpful in developing a comprehensive educational and support system for the church. The chapters by a variety of authors brought good insights through experience, rather than theory. Very helpful.

101 Questions Children ask about God
I and my nine year old daughter found this book to be very helpful in answering everyday questions that the traditional bible doesn't answer for children. The format is easy to read for children and the cartoons are a fun way to help them (and me!) to relate and remember the question and answer. Definately a winner for those who are seeking and want answers and for those who did not expect such ...

102 Questions Children Ask about the Bible (Questions Children Ask)2 reviews
David R. Veerman, James C. Wilhoit, ...

Tyndale Kids, 1994

Fun for the whole family, and interesting!
I bring home a lot of Christian books that I think my kids will read, but they rarely do. This one is different...my 8 and 10 yr olds are truly interested. They like to ask me the questions and see what kind of answer I come up with. With the scripture included, it's a devotional study in disquise!

Christian Educator's Handbook on Spiritual Formation, The3 reviews

Baker Books, 1998

Actually a book on Christian Education/Formation
I used this and read it extensively for a Master-level Christian Education/Christian formation class. Highly recommended for thinking through the issues of discipleship and creating and implementing a church program to help with Christian Education and Christian Formation. The writers are Evangelical, although there's only one or two chapters I have minor disagreements with. As a book about ...

Nurture That Is Christian: Developmental Perspectives on Christian Education3 reviews

Baker Academic, 1995

A difficult subject that is made easy to understand
This was a text that I used in my "Spiritual Formation and Discipleship" class at Lee University. The book does an excellent job at merging developmental psychology and the Scriptures, to present a unique Christian prespective on the world of developmental psychology, and how the Church can make use of it.

Spiritual Formation as if the Church Mattered: Growing in Christ through Community1 review
James C. Wilhoit

Baker Academic, 2008

Church does matter
Spiritual formation has become a catchphrase in churches and is gathering as much attention as churches that are `emerging.' Unfortunately, different people understands spiritual formation differently. To some, it is the practice of spiritual disciplines, to others the introduction of ancient spiritual practices, while in yet other churches, it is adding candles to the church service. James C. ...
