Biology AP Edition3 reviews
Neil A. Campbell, Jane B. Reece

Prentice Hall, 2004

Basic Biology
This book has been enormously helpful for me! Although it is HUGE and HEAVY to lug around, I know that the material that is inside is both interesting and accurate. The concepts are explained in terms for lay people, and the pictures/graphs they use are usually helpful to re-define points. Would I buy this book for fun? Likely not, but for the class I'm taking that requires it I don't ...

Benjamin Cummings, 2008

Very good book
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2278AHK4SA7YE I am taking the second semester of this class right now. I had this book for the first semester. One will have to do a lot of reading but the book does a good job explaining concepts. The CD that comes with the book is awesome for testing your knowledge. If I may suggest something that has helped my studies greatly, a ...

Biology Concepts & Connections, Second Edition24 reviews
Neil A. Campbell, Lawrence G. Mitchell, ...

Benjamin-Cummings Pub Co, 1999

Good introductory biology text
This is a great text for anyone taking an introductory college-level biology course. The writing style is simple and easy to understand, unlike many other science textbooks. Despite being very easy to read, it contains a good amount of information.

Great Book
This book is way more informative than my professor. Also, since introductory biology doesn't change within a couple of years, I'm really glad I saved money and purchased the seventh edition rather than the eighth.

This is the book other biology texts want to be when they grow up
Hands down, Campbell's Biology is the most beautifully written and illustrated biology textbook on the market and has remained so through many, many editions. I am a plant biologist and was pleased to see that even at the introductory level, this book gave plant life equal prominence with animal biology. If you want to fall in love with biology, this is the text to get you there. Campbell and ...

Biology with MasteringBiology™ (8th Edition) (MasteringBiology Series)4 reviews
Neil A. Campbell, Jane B. Reece

Benjamin Cummings, 2007

Very Good if you can lift it
I completed my B.A. in biology over 30 years ago and got this book for self-study and to catch up with progress in topics outside of my work experience. The sections seem well written and illustrated. Since this is an introductory text it has sidebars and interviews meant to interest the intro student. I'd leave those out, if only to make the book less massive.

Essential Biology4 reviews
Neil A. Campbell, Jane B. Reece, ...

Addison Wesley Publishing Company, 2006

Depth and Accuracy
Campbell and Reece are best known as the authors of the hefty and excellent "Biology", now in it's 6th edition used by undegraduate biology majors and AP Biology students. "Essential Biology" uses a different approach. The authors have packed a great deal into this amazingly small textbook. I recently reviewed a huge number of introductory biology texts for adoption in our school district. We ...

Essential Biology With Physiology3 reviews

wonderful book
I used this book to homeschool my 13 year old daughter, who went on to obtain a 750 on the SAT II Biology. I also taught a class to homeschoolers using THE WAY LIFE WORKS (much cheaper) as the main text, but using many of the CD-ROM activites from ESSENTIAL BIOLOGY as class material. I especially liked the MendAliens for genetics problems! There are many useful activites, quizzes, and chapter ...

The World of the Cell (Benjamin/Cummings Series in the Life Sciences)9 reviews
Wayne M. Becker, Jane B. Reece, ...

Addison Wesley Publishing Company, 1996

Misguided Reviews- I loved this book
I know that Cell Biology is a difficult subject to master, so there will always be shortcomings in a textbook's ability to communicate the subject in an understandable fashion. However, I thought this book was awesome. I followed the text entirely. I loved the fact that this text was an introductory text and didn't assume that the reader has previous knowledge of the subject. The authors ...

Biology: Student Study Guide, Sixth Edition
It's a condense textbook basically ,covering everything you need to know about the textbook, although it shouldn't be anyone's substitute to the text, the study guide provides a good guide to what to know and expect on exams. It also offers more questions to practice and to familiarize yourself with, and that always helps.

Investigating Biology Lab Manual (6th Edition)1 review

Benjamin Cummings, 2007

free book for sale?
The book is everything I expected, except for the tape on front of the cover. I tried to remove the tape and lo and behold, the printing under the tape says "FREE COPY". I don't think it's right to get a free copy of a book from the publisher then sell it. So although I'm pleased with the book, I'm disappointed in the deception.

unsatisfied
I ordered and paid for this book on the 8th of June. I attempted to contact the seller a few time with no responce. Today is the 9th of July and I still haven't heard from the seller nor has the book arrived. I ended up having to purchase the book elswhere and and awaiting the monies to be credited back to me. Practicing Biology (3rd Edition)1 review
Neil A. Campbell, Jane B. Reece, ...

Benjamin Cummings, 2007

Boring Quention book
I thought that I could have use for this book to get some interesting questions for my high school students. What I got is far from that. Questions are quite boring and often not really challenging. Sort of ooking things up in Campbell. Not what I was after ( and certainly not for 1st year college students, i thought).
