This Mom loves everything the dinosaurs do!
I am so happy with all the dinosaur books, my kids think they are funny and I give huge praise to anything that will get my kids to do tasks they might otherwise hate doing. A little side note the book "How do dinosaurs eat their food" actually got my daughter to eat BROCOLLI!! Come on how great is that?!?!

Great Book
Just got this one in the mail the other day to complete our how do dinosaurs collection. We have all 10 now; we really enjoy this one. It flows well and follows the same format as most of the others; starting off asking do dinosaurs do this and this, things that are funny and ridiculous, followed by NO! They do this and this, great way to teach young children how to love their animals.

This book is the perfect tribute to parents who encourage their children to have awe and respect of animals and nature. It is an inspiration to do the same. Lovely lovely lovely.

Little ones "read" this story back to me
Purchased as a gift for a 3 year old, who asks that it be read over and over. Illustrations are adorable and very colorful, and most children will identify with the dinosaurs behavior! Easy, rhyming story is quickly remembered, and my grandchildren want to "read" it back. Both 3 year old boy and 4 year old girl said they love the dinosaur book!

My daughters favorite book.
We have almost all of the "how do dinosaurs..." books and I have to say I love them all. This one in particular is my 4 year old daughters favorite. Probably because she goes to school now. I love the pretty pics and the rhyming is very easy to read even when I"m tired. Highly recommend to children both boy and girl. We started reading the series when my daughter was just 2 1/2 and its still a ...

I Love This Series!
I bought about 4 of the books in this series for my nephew for Christmas. The illustrations are fantastic and the stories are clever. I personally thought all of them were cute, but my favorite one to read to him is "How Does a Dinosaur Say I Love You".

Teacher Review
I used this book in my classroom to give students some background on Holocaust Remebrance Day on Jan. 27th. Myself and my students enjoyed this book tremendously. Jane Yolen is a wonderful author and her use of foreshadowing, and character development are amazing. This was a real eye opener for some of my students about the Holocaust. Even though this is a work of fiction, Jane Yolen really ...

Love It :)
My daughter received "How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?" as a gift on her 1st birthday, and instantly fell in love with it. I decided then to give another book a try, and purchased "How Do Dinosaurs Say I Love You?" and "How Do Dinosaurs Clean Their Rooms?" four months later for Christmas and again, she just fell in love with them! So today, after taking her to get a couple of shots, we headed over ...

Child of Faerie, Child of Earth27 reviews

Little, Brown Young Readers, 2000

Lovely story about a friendship that transcends boundaries
What a delightful find! My 4.5-year-old preschooler loves all things faerie and when we came across this book at the library, I was immensely pleased! The story has an interesting premise - what if a child of faerie, which is refreshingly portrayed as a boy here, and a child of earth, a human girl, should meet and become friends? Well, each take turns visiting the other's world, but when asked by ...

A story to remember
I won't go into a summary of this book, you can find that in the section above, and in many other reviews. What I'll say here is this: I read this book when I was 12. It moved me deeply, possibly more deeply than anything I'd ever read before. It wasn't that the story was about the Holocaust, I'd already read "Night" and several other WWII books by then, so terrible as that was, it wasn't ...

How Do Dinosaurs Get Well Soon?34 reviews
Jane Yolen

Blue Sky Press, 2003

Get well, little dinosaur!
When in comes to boo-boo's, scrapes, cuts, or illnesses, little children can often be the worst and the most dramatic patients. The littlest cut is on par with the gargantuan loss of blood produced from a lost limb. Sicknesses are cause enough for the world to stop turning. And sometimes, a kiss from Mommy just doesn't fully fix things. Trouble is, they want to get better, but seem to want to ...

Excellent
This book is an anthology of twenty short stories, each something of a retelling of a classic fairytale. The stories are all very well written, with the leadoff story being written by the sensational Tanith Lee. As a matter of fact, my absolute favorite story is Tanith Lee's reworking of the story of Repunzel. These stories run the gamut between humorous and upsetting. Some of the storylines ...

Brave New World
For the first few years in school, children learn about Columbus the hero. You get the ships and the voyage and the alleged discovery. When I taught third grade I would read this book around Columbus day and it was shock and awe with the kids. The thought that Columbus might not have been such a hero created dead silence around my room. Some felt duped by their second and first grade ...

Dragon's Heart: The Pit Dragon Chronicles, Volume Four3 reviews
Jane Yolen

Harcourt Children's Books, 2009

Dragon's Heart by Jane Yolen **WARNING some spoilers**
Great book. It picks up right where the third left off. the writting was good, though at times seemed a bit rushed.(as if Jane needed to finish writting a chapter/the last half of the book)The first half was the right pace and was building up to something big/good. But the second part was rushed. The ending was ok,and again seemed too rushed. More could have been done with the "kidnappers" It ...

An Invitation to the Butterfly Ball: A Counting Rhyme6 reviews

Knock Knock! Who's come to call?
I'm 30 years old and I still remember reading this book as a child. Not only can I recite parts of it to this day, but so can my mother. It is a fun way to learn to count. The illustrations are enchanting, as well as the entire story involving all sorts of animals preparing for The Butterfly Ball.

I really like this book of poems. The pictures are lovely. Some poems have just a few lines and some poems are longer. The second language students and native English speaking students enjoy these poems.

Favorite Folktales from Around the World (Pantheon Fairy Tale and Folklore Library)8 reviews

Pantheon, 1988

I adored it.
I teach elementary school, and I originally got this book because I was instructing other teachers on how to incorporate multicultural folklore into their classrooms. However, this book ended up spending most of its time by my bedside. It is SO GOOD. I came across it by accident, but I totally love it, just as much as I love my anthology of original Grimm's fairy tales. If you have any ...

Piggins4 reviews

Voyager Books, 1992

A good book to read aloud
This is a children's picture book written in the classic English Manor House Mystery style-- complete with a dinner party, distinguished guests, missing jewels and, of course, the butler, Piggins. I won't give away who "did it," but kids will have fun solving the mystery as you read the book to them. Part of the fun is looking at all the details in the drawings of the house. I highly ...
