Fun!
My daughter loved this book. It's a fun read-aloud, but not so difficult she couldn't read it to herself the next night. And the illustrations are so cute.

Babymouse #7
The book is enjoyable and funny especially, when babymouse wants to be a pro skater but she keeps falling when she jumps up to high. She wants to attend ice-skating classes but she never knew she had to go early in the morning.

The Irrepressible Spirit of Babymouse Shines Through
Babymouse: Beach Babe sat on my coffee table the day after it arrived, looking very pink, and calling out, in a high-pitched, squeaky sort of voice "read me." Eventually, just before bedtime, I gave in. And I have to say, after missing the first two books in the series, that I am now in love with Babymouse. For those of you unfamiliar with the series, the Babymouse books are graphic novels, ...

We love Babymouse!
My eight-year-old daughter was a very reluctant reader who was having trouble with even the most basic words. We have a lot of books around the house and take several trips a week to the library. Babymouse was the first book to get her excited about reading. She read the first book to me, haltingly. She begged for the second. When we got it, I had to make dinner and she wanted to start right ...

Nobody Puts Babymouse In the Corner
Here is a typical day in my library. I set out four or five copies of the newest "Babymouse" series around 10:00 a.m. on the graphic novel shelf. Around 11:00 a.m. a patron of the girl-like persuasion will ask if we have any copies of "Babymouse" in. With falsely swelled head I will lead the patron to the place I last put the series, only to find every single last stinking copy is gone gone ...

Strong Female Protagonist - strong writing
This delightful piece of historical fiction set in New Jersey in the 1950's explores the life of "Penny" who lives with a single mother and grandparents, but who has a whole other life on Sundays with her father's family, a large Italian American one with uncles who dote on her. The mystery that threads itself through this story is that no one will talk about her father, and how and why he died. ...

Cute but overpriced
My daughter loves the Babymouse book series so I thought I'd get her this Babymouse doll along with the latest book for Christmas. I don't know what I expected, but plush toys similar to this are normally sold for $3 or so. Just because it's Babymouse it's $10 which I thought was overpriced for what you get: a thin, small plush mouse. I am sure it will delight my daughter though, but as a buyer I ...

The Only Girl in a Pack of Boys, by Kristin Eliza Tollestrup
Our Only May Amelia is a historically based novel for older children. It is also a Newberry Honor Book and is for good reason. The characterization is infectious, the emotion is honest and provokes a reaction, the relationships between characters creates a welcoming atmosphere, and the first person perspective in which it is written portrays the social and developmental status of the protagonist, ...

Engaging a reluctant Reluctant Reader
I purchased this book for my 5th grade sister who abhors reading. She fights any book any tries to place in front of her. I first heard about this book at a Young Adult Literature Conference for teachers and librarians. It sounded interesting, so I purchased it from Amazon and had it shipped to my sister. She loved the book! She shared it with her teacher and class, too. I highly recommend ...

Now that was a good book
I really enjoyed this book. Jennifer L. Holms did a great job writing this book. I love the main Ideas of the book. And I love the characters she uses. This book was good from the beginning to the end. My personal favorite character Jane Peck, and the way she has to change when she gets to Shoalwater Bay was amazing. I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!

great for literature circles
I have used this book in literature circles with 6th grade students from collaborative to gifted. They all love the story! Even boys enjoy its adventurous side; however, they aren't as enthralled as the girls. Great read!!!
