The No-Beach, No-Zone, No-Nonsense Weight-Loss Plan: A Pocket Guide to What Works8 reviews
Jim Johnson

Hunter House, 2005

As Concise as It Gets
No-nonsense style, very concise (except for various calculation examples, which might be good, as math literacy is alien concept for most). About myself: 12 years ago I was 160 lbs. (I am 5'9"). Once I hit 230 lbs a few weeks back, I got myself a stack of books, including this one, to avoid previous failures (210 lbs to 190 lbs 2 years ago and gaining it all back and some more). Jim ...

Rex Mundi Volume 3: The Lost Kings (Rex Mundi)3 reviews
Arvid Nelson, Eric Johnson, ...

Dark Horse, 2006

THE MYSTERY DEEPENS!
The Lost Kings is the third trade paperback collection in this Da Vinci Code-inspired tale of mystery and dark magic. It collects issues 12 - 17 of the regular comic into a 176 page book. Now it's not altogether fair to merely consider Rex Mundi a Da Vinci Code clone. Having read a number of books on the Holy Grail, The Templars, and such subjects, writer Arvid Nelson has clearly drawn upon ...

Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff16 reviews
Jim Johnson

Dog Ear Publishing, LLC, 2007

Well, it worked
I hurt my rotator cuffs doing some bag work. I waited a long time (I'm a guy) to go into an ortho. He gave me the advice to work on my posture, lose weight and a photocopy of some exercises to do. Told me that how I injured myself didn't matter, fixing it was what counted. Well, posture and losing weight solved that problem. Had a completely different feeling problem. Went back after ...

Becoming an Emotionally Focused Couple Therapist: The Workbook3 reviews
Susan Johnson, Brent Bradley, ...

Brunner-Routledge, 2005

Clarifying the EFT Interventions
For me, this book supplied the logical missing piece after finishing the EFT Externship and beginning the supervision process. The book enabled me to reinforce on my own and at my own pace the steps, stages and interventions that I learned in the group context. Using this valuable tool, I was able to slow down and clarify the parts of the model which had been unclesr to me previously. The chapter ...

The Multifidus Back Pain Solution: Simple Exercises That Target the Muscles That Count28 reviews
Jim Johnson

New Harbinger Publications, 2002

Unbelievable... a borderline miracle.... 10++ stars
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!! I had back surgery 2 years ago (L1-L2 thru L3-L4 lumbar diskectomy) to relieve severe lower back pain and sciatica pain in the left leg. Although the surgery relieved the sciatica, regularly every 4-6 weeks I subsequently had recurring "episodes" which took 2-3 weeks to subside. I was walking, swimming, stretching, etc., all to no avail. Skelaxin and Mobic ...

Treat Your Own Knees: Simple Exercises to Build Strength, Flexibility, Responsiveness and Endurance14 reviews
Jim Johnson

Hunter House, 2003

Excellent Book
I've never written an Amazon review before, but this little book impressed me so much that other readers should share its benefits. I damaged my knee in a motorcycle accident and had recurring pain for two years. A string of hospitals, therapists and acupuncturists were all unable to diagnose, never mind treat, the problem. Enter Jim Johnson Stage Right>>> 6 weeks after doing only part ...

The Sixty-Second Motivator10 reviews
Jim Johnson

Dog Ear Publishing, LLC, 2006

Small Book With a BIG Impact
Being a cardiac rehab nurse and spending a lot of time each day trying to get people to change their lifestyles to create better health, this book caught my eye. After reading it, I found the principles instantly useful for me to use at work. They can help anyone get motivated to get past the barriers that keep them from making changes to improve their health. Additionally, the book is short and ...

Dark Horse keeps the hits coming with Aliens Omnibus vol. 3!
Aliens Omnibus Volume 3 to me definetly had the most chilling Aliens comics I have ever read! This Omnibus collects these stories: 1. Rogue, by Ian Edginton, art by Will Simpson, (4 stars), 2. Sacrifice, by Peter Milligan, art by Paul Johnson, (4 stars), 3. Labyrinth, by Jim Woodring, art by Kilian Plunkett (5 stars), 4. The 5-Minute Plantar Fasciitis Solution6 reviews
Jim Johnson

Dog Ear Publishing, LLC, 2008

Simple, fast, effective foot treatments
This pamphlet/workbook seemed a bit overpriced for such a small book, but it's worth every penny. The therapy described in the book is effective and easy to accomplish. I have some trouble with the stretches described first thing in the morning owing to general stiffness overall, but have discovered that I can use a proStretch device (also available at amazon.com with supersaver shipping) to ...

My Life Is Failure: 100 Things You Should Know to Be a Better Project Leader2 reviews
Jim Johnson

Standish Group International, 2006

Excellent project pointers
This book offers very helpful advice on project management. The author is the founder and chairman of the Standish Group. This organization publishes the oft-quoted statistics on the rate of software project failures. (The percent of failures is very high.) The book offers pointers in 10 categories. I frequently refer to the book to check whether I am managing a project properly. This is ...

Creating a Forestry for the 21st Century: The Science Of Ecosytem Management1 review

I bought this for a class I was taking and it is not interesting enough to buy unless you have to, like me.

Blood and Honor (Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron, Volume 7)9 reviews
Michael A. Stackpole, Steve Crespo, ...

Dark Horse, 1999

A sequel that equals
Following right after In the Empire's Service, Blood and Honor is a comic where interstellar actions takes a temporary backseat for this character-driven tale. From the depths of a debriefing room, now in enemy custody, captured Imperial fighter ace Soontir Fel regales his background---a story of deceit, integrity, romance and inevitability. Dived into two parts---The Making of Baron Fel, and ...

CHOKEHOLD: Pro Wrestling's Real Mayhem Outside the Ring13 reviews

Could very well be the most informative and incisive book ever done on pro wrestling. I could not put it down. Please do another or update this one.

The People in the Attic: The Haunting of Doretta Johnson13 reviews
Doretta Johnson, Jim Henderson

St Martins Pr, 1995

Good scare, good story.
I really enjoyed this book. I enjoy almost all ghost stories especially the ones that claim to be true. I found the story to be exciting and frightening. I also enjoyed the ending and how it took into account the very real possibility of poltergeist type activity where a haunting centers around a specific human agent. It was a good read.

Tube Flies: A Tying, Fishing & Historical Guide4 reviews
Mark Mandell, Les Johnson

Frank Amato Publications, 2004

Save money, space, and time by learning about tube flies
I picked up Tube Flies in hopes that I might be able to better tie larger flies for blue water fishing. Not only did the advice in this book allow me to tie in the sizes I needed but the instructions corrected the problem of line twist that made me give up on tube flies a decade ago. My blue water box is now 3/4's tube flies and the money I have saved on hooks is, at least, three times the ...

Flyfisher's Guide to Michigan (Flyfishers Guidebooks)6 reviews
Jim Bedford

Wilderness Adventures Press, 2007

Wonderful Starting point
This book is a great guide to the many rivers I have spent time on in Michigan. It is not going to put you on the honey-holes, but it will provide you with good maps and the right strategies to have a sucessful day on the river. It also provides area business #'s, which I have found helpful on several occassions. Jim Bedford knows what he is taking about. Great investment.

Strange But True
