Three Billy Goats-GREAT
I was just reminded of this teriffic retelling of Three Billy Goats Gruff. The suspense and pacing are brilliant. The illustrations are gorgeous AND funny. It was one of my all-time favorite read-alouds when I was a children's librarian. Galdone never failed in capturing the kids' imagination and story hour was always the better with one of his books. A MUST HAVE!

A FABULOUS story encouraging verbal expression.
I'm an elementary speech-language specialist and I use this book every year. I am picky in the books I choose to use in therapy, but this story allows for critical thinking, retelling, inferring, predicting..all the things that look for in interactive literature. Kids root for the turtle and love the "villian" characteristics in the monkey! Highly recommended. I have so much fun reading it ...

Great illustrations, but not the classic story!
Paul Galdone usually does a wonderful job retelling and illustrating fairy tales. My 3 year old son loves this one
5 stars for the enjoyment my 3 year old sons gets from this one. The traditional version of the story, with the third pig outwitting the wolf many times. Appealing illustrations. I am going to buy more of Galdone's books based on how much my son has enjoyed this one and "The Three Billy Goats Gruff."

Tailypo haunts me....still
our evil harpie of an elementary school librarian scarred generations of children with this book. we've found some comfort in reading these customer reviews and to discover: we are not alone. the story, the art, it burns into your very soul. i will never ever ever EVER eat a Tailypo's tail!!!!!!! p.s. how many of you traumatized adults are from BOONE, IOWA, PAGE SCHOOL ELEMENTARY '78-80?

Beautiful Illustrations!
This is in reference to the version illustrated by D. Duntzee--some of the reviews here were a little confusing on that point. This version is the time-honored story by H. C. Andersen which I grew up hearing. The illustrations are really lovely and my two little girls just adore this book. If you have a library of classic children's stories, you should add this book to it--it's wonderful!
