Wow! I loved Benji when I was a wee little tyke and I was so excited when I saw this title was coming out! I can't say I was much impressed with the film, but Scout Driggs' mastery of the adaptive novel is profound! Poor Benji, I was so sad when I read the bit about the drowning.
