A Truly Inspiring Book!
'Get A Grip' is not simply a story about how to deal with the pain and torment of arthritis, this is a story about how to deal with LIFE! This is a story about a woman who at the age 18 was stricken by a disease normally attributed to those much older. Amye Leong tells her story of pain, of despair and hope, of setbacks and victories. This is a story that can teach us all lessons on how to ...

All About Apolo is AWESOME!
All fans of Apolo Anton Ohno, kids and grownups alike, must have this book--it is AWESOME! It has tons of big, glossy pictures--dramatic moments from the Olympics, cute candid pics, and precious childhood photos. There's also fascinating information in "Getting Personal With Apolo" (did you know he has a cat named Tiggie?) and "Apolo's Faves & Raves" (his favorite room is the kitchen!). I ...

Waiting for the Next Great Fight
Prior to reading the book, I always thought that Douglas won this fight because he was in the right place at the right time. Tyson was dealing with a ton of issues, wasn't prepared to fight, his corner wasn't prepared to support his fight, and the result was more of a Tyson loss than a Douglas win. After reading this book, I changed my mind. Layden does a wonderful job setting up the ...

Awesome!
A Smile as Big as the Moon, by Mike Kersjes, is a very inspiring and encouraging book. Personally, I was happy to see a teacher who took risks to make those children with disabilities feel proud of themslves. Personally, as an employee at a school with disabled children, I know what it takes to make those children happy. I can call Kersjes a gifted teacher who devoted his time, energy, and money ...

A Smile as Big as the Moon
This is the first review I have written and I just wanted everyone to know what an unexpected treat this book was. I purchased the book at a $6.00 or less table at the local book store and in return laughed and cried. In my opinon, I recieved a great bargan. The writing was ok, which more than adequately got the message across because the children were the story, not the author, the teacher or ...

Love it or hate it
There and Back Again is a book you will either love or hate. You will love it if: 1. You are a Sean Astin fan, or if you are interested in the actor and his life beyond the LOTR experience. 2. You are aware that this is an autobiography, where it is natural for the author to talk mainly about himself. 3. You can appreciate ultimate honesty, especially from someone who has every reason not ...

Good insider book
One of the better Dead books I've read. Parish (with assist from Layden) surely has a lot of stories to tell and he does it in an affable manner - even when his own behavior is less than stellar. Learned a lot about Jerry Garcia, but little about the rest of the band. Though that's understandable since Parish was by far closest to Garcia. In reading this back to back with the books by Rock ...

A few years out of date, but good
The biggest weakness is that the book doesn't contain anything about this season's incredible crop of rookies, from Jackie Stiles to Katie Smith. However, if your local paper's sports section is as lousy at WNBA coverage as mine is, the book contains a treasure of pictures and words about some of the solidest basketball players in the world.

A great book for the true Dallas fans!
Haley expresses his views (openly) on everything from racism in the NFL to the physical and emotional toll the game takes on its players. He doesn't hold anything back and just tells it how it is. Not many players get to play for two great teams (like the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers) and win Super Bowls with each. He's a legendary player and that explains why he's the only man ...

Bound to be controversial -- but arguably a lifesaver
It's fascinating to me that two respected and reputable New York cardiologists, Peter Salgo in "The Heart of the Matter" and Jonathan Sackner Bernstein in "Before It Happens to You," have come out in the same month with books espousing the unusual, rather heretical view that most Americans, even those regarded as healthy, would benefit from taking the popular cholesterol-lowering drugs called ...

This is, at best, a collection of news stories
This "bio" which was obviously hastily churned out right after the 1994 assault on Nancy Kerrigan, doesn't tell the reader anything that hasn't already been printed in news stories. It's doubtful that the writers even interviewed anyone in the Harding camp; for instance, they repeatedly refer to her mother as LaVona Golden, when the woman doesn't even use that name. A shameless attempt to cash in ...

It is a great book! You have done a great job. It is perfect that you've included a lot of information. You have written about Monica's childhood, what was just perfect. There was also a lot of information about how Monica was training, the way she was winning her tournaments. Chuck Zito is a long time Hells Angel, bodyguard to celebrities and an actor who plays tough guy roles. I guess I should start off by saying that I served under Lt. Col. Sassaman's command during OIF 1. I've always told my family and friends that I am proud to have served under him. I ended up reading the book in a single sitting. I feel that the information provided in the book was accurate and actually captured some of the views of the soldiers under his command.
