John C. Bogle

Wiley, 2007

This is truly common sense
This is an excellent book for any investor. The straight common sense advice that this book provides will help everyone with their investment portfolios. The best quote from the book is "the miracle of compounding interest is overwhelmed by the tyranny of cost". Through index funds, the author explains how to cut costs and caption the return of the entire stock market. This is an excellent ...

John Bogle on Investing: The First 50 Years11 reviews
John C. Bogle

McGraw-Hill Companies, 2000

No nonsense book by one of the greats
A good, practical, no-nonsense book on investing that emphasizes returning to basics and tried and true approaches that have always worked over the long term. He points out that investing needn't be, and perhaps shouldn't be, rocket science, and that you can do quite well in the market over the long term just by matching the performance of the market, and not trying to beat the market. As many ...

The Battle for the Soul of Capitalism24 reviews
John C. Bogle

Yale University Press, 2006

Nobel Prize Material--Final Review
This book is a work of genius and integrity, with the potential to catalyze Wall Street into fulfilling the promise of moral capitalism and community ownership. Here are some highlights from my flyleaf notes: + America is no longer an ownership society--financial intermediaries "own" everyting and the individual owners are passive + We can find the wisdom and will to restore moral ...

Lack of Money is the Root of All Evil: Mark Twain's Timeless Wisdom on Money and Wealth for Today's Investor7 reviews
Andrew Leckey, John C. Bogle, ...

Prentice Hall Press, 2001

First rate!
This book does a great job of capturing Mark Twain's humor and bringing it into a modern day investment context. Investing is serious business, but we can still laugh at our mistakes while we learn from them because chances are we're not the first to make them. If you loved reading Mark Twain growing up, you'll love both his wisdow and wit on investing.

The Bogleheads' Guide to Investing49 reviews
Taylor Larimore, Mel Lindauer, ...

Wiley, 2007

Excellent advice
This book gives excellent advice primarily about mutual fund investing and retiring. It is basically a primer on retirement planning and leans heavily toward Vanguard funds. It is easy to read and has lots of common sense advice and examples proving the authors' suggestions. I would suggest it to anyone needing a basic primer on retirement plan investing.

Character Counts : The Creation and Building of the Vanguard Group7 reviews
John C. Bogle, John Bogle

McGraw-Hill, 2002

give this book to your kids
Several reviewers say not to buy this book because it repeats itself over & over. That is just the point that these people (who must have low SAT scores) missed; namely that virtue and honor do not change. We all learn by repetition and that is what Mr. Bogle does. Vanguard was and continues to be founded on bedrock solid honest principles that will not change. He is especially cognizant of his ...
