The book has excellent picture references and well thought out instructions. Wiring diagrams are well done too. The only draw back is it offers no vacuum hose diagrams. I believe it is a good book for the basic home mechanic.

The manual was very helpful, however when using the index the page numbering was incorrect. The places that I noteced were incorrect did bring you withing 2-3 pages of the correct spot, so if you have a fairly reasonable idea of what's going on you won't get too confused.

Great on motor poor on the rest of drivetrain
The manual goes into the motor well. It is easy to follow. The photos are pretty poor though. It really lacks information on tranfer cases and differentials. if you are only going to remove the components and replace them it is fine, but thats is far as it goes.

Good, but not great
The book was based upon a disassembly of a Sprint and not a Metro and there are significant and annoying differences. A lot of the content is copied verbatim from other books, and I'm not sure that it is all accurate. This book will help you perform common repairs, but is maddeningly silent on a number of other ones (e.g. swapping radios). Also it isn't as detailed as some of their other ...

Disappointing for a Haynes Manual
I have found incorrect descriptions of procedures that have made the job more difficult. The instruction for removing a clip-on windshield wiper was the opposite of what should be done. There are references to a picture showing removal of the panel trim in front of the radio. The picture does not exist. These errors came up with the first 2 jobs that I referred to the manual about. This book is great but is missing something.

The best book for all you do it your selfers
This is one of the best books for all of you do it yourselfers. Save yourself a lot of TIME and MONEY with this book. When i bought this book it saved me at least so far about 20 hours worth of looking around for the wrong thing! I'm thinking about buying this book because I own a 2000 Ford Ranger, code-named J97, built in Thailand for sale throughout the world except North America. Adequate -- But Merely That
The devil is in the details and this book simply lacks the details. It's not a bad deal if all you want to do is change brake lining and replace broken bulbs -- but thats about all it's good for. It is not an acceptable reference for heavy duty repair. If you want to overhaul your engine, get the genuine factory service manual from Helms. It's alright...
The manual is okay, although not very detailed. Some projects are even missing steps (replace the thermostat: they make it looks like it's no big deal,and it's probably not, but they don't say it's almost necessary to remove the throttle body to have better acces to the thermostat housing).
