Beautiful, beautiful book!
When I heard John Evans was going to have a book published on his unique and beautiful collages, I eagerly awaited it's arrival. It was worth the wait and I can say it did not disappoint! Enjoy the vibrancy of his work while taking a stroll through history beginning in the 70's. His ability to take something as simple as a ticket stub, matchbook cover or old photo and create a theme combined ...

Comprehensive, easy to understand
I was a bit unconfortable when I bought this book since I was suspicious that this one was one of those unreadable thermodynamic books. Fortunately I was wrong. This book provides you with a complete treatment of the properties of gases and liquids in a plain language stressing the understanding of the basic laws governing the behavior of liquids and gases instead of the mathematic that goes with ...

Indispensable
This encyclopedia is indispensable to anyone seriously interested in blues and gospel recordings of the pre-WW2 era. Awe-inspiring labor has brought forth a volume of nearly 1500 pages listing, alphabetically by artist, recording data for every known African-American blues and gospel performer whose work was put on disk through 1943. It is not a jazz discography, though a few essentially jazz ...

Great for beginning and experienced osteopaths.
This is the long awaited basic textbook for osteopathic medicine. It is surprisingly complete, covering philosophy, history, research, and manipulative techniques. The beginning osteopathic student may find it most useful for its practical discussion on the techniques--high velocity, myofascial release, etc. I believe it is also helpful in standardizing our terminology, which will make it ...

A call to arms
In September 1980 Charles Malik gave a powerful talk on the need for evangelicals to reclaim the mind, and to reclaim the universities. It was published that year in a brief book called The Two Tasks. A century after his birth, a number of Christian scholars, including his son, commemorates Malik and his stirring address. Thus this book. Seven Christian thinkers, including Peter Kreeft and ...

This is a wonderful resource
I have the 1982 edition of this book - I stumbled across it and have been amazed ever since that such a book was written in 1982 before this approach to gardening/landscaping was popular. It is tailored to the midwest, but the technical solidity and sound design concepts should apply anywhere.

The first truly comprehensive medical textbook I've seen.
I first came across this book last year when I was feverishly studying for my 4th year medical exams. What really excited me was that I could look things up in the index and actually find a paragraph or two explaining my query, no matter how obscure the reference. Textbooks like Harrisons baffle me; why would I want to spend 45 minutes looking at the ten different times my word has been mentioned ...

Wonderfully illustrative and informative
This book has been a great help to me for Botany, especially Botany labs. It has pictures on the micro- and macroscopic levels of plants with captions that label and describe function. A great book to have because it increases course comprehension.

Family History
John Stands in Timber is my daughter's great-grandfather on her father's side. I am purchasing this book to let her know the history she shares as a Northern Cheyenne and to show her how much her great-grandfather cared about his people. I have read the book previously and appreciated the sense of cultural awareness John portrayed through his words. It is a lesson for us all to remember where ...

A revelation
Having served 4 years in the states and including 2 years in Italy I found this a very interesting and revealing view of what the war was like in the Pacific theater. Of course, this was the experience of one person, but what a tale it is. It is necessary reading. I heartly recommend it.

Read the book
I suspect Mr. Burnett didn't actually read this book, but simply reacted out of his latent resentment of any claims gay folks might have on our common human imagination. (Telling flaw in his argument: He feels the need to tell us that some of his friends are gay. Ok. But I bet he doesn't like to listen to their stories.) All polemics aside, I found this book fascinating. Its basic premise is ...

Yes, this book is an atlas, like an atlas must be: with many, many pictures, big pictures (the majority use all size of the page) and a easily text to read. I really recomend. I am sorry by the language, please, corretc before, OK. PS: I don't know if pictures are the correct word, the atlas has colored designs, ok

All three books in this series are great!
I had to learn Access for my job, and found this three-volume series. The books were designed for classes, but worked very well on their own. This book built on the topics (creating tables, forms, queries, reports, etc.) that were introduced in the first two books, and added some more complex topics. It used a step-by-step method, and the examples were real-life, not some widget company, which ...
