Justice Society of America Vol. 2: Thy Kingdom Come, Part 14 reviews
Geoff Johns, Alex Ross

DC Comics, 2008

Still the best super-team story going...
I can't believe that advance word hasn't leaked out to everyone yet (and the cover on the trade is spoiler enough), but, just in case: SPOILERS follow!! Geoff Johns really isn't messing around; typically, dude has had large ideas concerning the Justice Society of America, and he trots out some more here. For one thing, the JSA team roster continues to expand as yet more characters are ...

Essential Amazing Spider-Man, Vol. 6 (Marvel Essentials)8 reviews
Gerry Conway, Ross Andru, ...

Marvel Comics, 2004

Spidey at some of his BEST and worst moments!
Once you get past the black & white pages (there is much to be said about how color enhances comicbook artwork), the Marvel Essentials stories really manage to pull you in. Volume 6 has some of Spidey's best storylines ever in Amazing Spider-Man. The pinacle would have to be the character defining two-parter with the Death of Gwen Stacy at the hands of the Green Goblin. Powerful stuff even ...

Unintended Consequences371 reviews
John Ross

Accurate Press, 1996

A Valuable Resource - an extraordinary story
It's all been covered in the other 300+ reviews. I just wanted to pile on the enthusiastic praise. This work is the single best historical (even though threaded into a fictional story) account of the firearms laws in the United States. Don't read it to the kids because it's not gentle or nice. One heck of a story.

John Ross

The Lyons Press, 2005

Love this Book
I spent 2 months traveling last summer visiting some of these trout streams and it was very useful. I'm not sure what I would have done with out it. It really helped me map out my travels and guided me to maybe not all of the best places but to most of them.

For the past several years--and with seemingly limitless access--photographer Richard Ross has been making unsettling and thought-provoking pictures of architectural spaces that exert power over the individuals within them. Complete Printmaker10 reviews
John Ross

Free Press, 1991

Process, process, process!
This book is almost a catalog of every printmaking process around. It covers all the basics: intaglio, relief, screen prints, litho, and monoprint. It covers related technique, including embossed "dimensional" prints (aka "blind" prints), molded paper, and more. It devotes special attention to collographs, prints from textured or collage surface, and much too much more to describe. Best, the ...

Essential Fantastic Four, Vol. 6 (Marvel Essentials)2 reviews
Stan Lee, Roy Thomas, ...

Marvel Comics, 2007

Stan Lee ends his run on "The Fantastic Four" with help from John Buscema
You might be surprised at how many times you can take one away from four and get three, but that is a common thread in the comic book issues collected in "Essential Fantastic Four, Volume 6" (which would be issues #111-37 of "The World's Greatest Comic Magazine"). Sue Storm has temporarily left the FF to take care of baby Franklin, with help from Agatha Harkness. The Invisible Woman had been ...

Captain America: Red, White & Blue4 reviews
Paul Dini, Bruce Jones, ...

Marvel Comics, 2007

The Re-imaging of Cap for a New Generation
This book made me fall in love with comics all over again after about a 15 year absence (the release of the horrible G.I. Joe #50). If Marvel put out a hardcover book like this 'bout Cap every year I would buy it the day it was released. I love its "catalogue" feel. Like a Cap sampler. There's probably 2 chapters I could live without. The rest are pure joy. I also highly recommend Captain ...

Dog Talk: Training Your Dog Through A Canine Point Of View18 reviews
John Ross, Barbara McKinney

St. Martin's Press, 1995

Best book on the market
I bought this book (amongst others) 8 years ago when I got my first dog. After reading all of the dog books I could lay my hands on, I decided to try this one. I followed it religiously and it worked like a dream. As a result, both my dogs are amazingly well trained and behaved. By the time they were six months old they both responded to spoken commands as well as hand signals. I can leave ...

The EVA Challenge: Implementing Value-Added Change in an Organization7 reviews
Joel M. Stern, John S. Shiely, ...

Wiley, 2003

Aligning Shareholder and Manager Interests
One of the most difficult questions to answer is what a company's worth is. Two developments in American Capitalism have contributed to the question's complexity. First, shareholders have divorced themselves from the corporations operation, leaving the task to professional managers. Second, generally accepted accounting principles do not align expenses with benefits, distorting economic ...

Roy Thomas, Gary Friedrich, ...

Marvel Comics, 2006

It's About Bloody Time, Marvel!
Marvel released volume one in this series YEARS ago, and they have finally given us volume two. The stories in this volume are very rarely reprinted, and are very entertaining. Worth a look, especially if you're a mutant continuity nut like me.

A well written drama of one family riven by competing loyalties
Set in the days preceding Geonosis, Honor and Duty is a both a political whodunit and a human drama, the story of the disintegration of the government mirrored in the unraveling of one family sworn to protect the Republic.
