Marcinko delivers yet again
Well folks what can be said about Mr. Marcinko that hasn't been said a million times already. What you have here is a man who did his time with the Navy, and a true patriot. Unlike his first book, these for the most part, are fictional stories. However they are being told from the point of view of the warrior that is carrying out orders that mean nothing to the people that issue them. As a ...

Rogue Warrior159 reviews
Richard Marcinko

Pocket Books, 1992

Very good read
I really enjoyed this book Marcinko was one of the last of a dying breed in the military. I have spent most of my adult life in the armed forces and can definitely relate. Oddly enough his story ring true when now more then ever our military is so riddled with political correctness and politics you can't even do your job.

SOAR: A Black Ops Mission17 reviews
John Weisman

Avon, 2004

Weisman continues top notch
While some things require a leap of faith, and not a little imagination, this story is very much the work of a master story teller. It isn't anything like the books he does with Dick Marcinko, but that takes away nothing; the two have very different styles, and this is a different story. BRAVO!

Green Team: Rogue Warrior Iii (Paperback)21 reviews
Richard Marcinko, John Weisman

Pocket, 1996

Action Packed From Start To Finish!
One thing that you can say about one of Marcinko's books is that they are not at all boring. He is able to call upon his SEAL training and experience to put together an interesting story. Some of his dealings in this book are close to what you read in the newspapers today. His knowledge of weapons and their use also add to his ability to spin an action packed story. His action team is also made up ...

Pocket, 2001

Formulaic, But You Know You Love the Formula!
Those of us who are fans of the Weisman/Marcinko collaboration know what to expect, and we usually get it. Purple prose, riveting technical realism, and a refreshingly honest look at great men who overcome great odds in spite of malfunctioning equipment, fumbled flash-bang grenades, mashed noses and other Murphy factors. What can I say, I love this stuff. Reading Tom Clancy is like watching a ...

Red Cell: Rogue Warrior II (Hardcover): Red Cell39 reviews
Richard Marcinko, John Weisman

Atria, 1994

These books ain't all fiction - that's what makes them fun
If you have read all of Cmdr Marcinko's books, and I have, you know that some of the 'asides' he gives in these books are true. Red Cell did do a security exercise where they simulated 'blowing up' Air Force One. Marcinko did lead a team of shooters into Libya where they waxed over 30 people in a terrorist camp. Now the main story, which in Red Cell is about the smuggling of nuclear material ...

Direct Action3 reviews
John Weisman

Avon, 2006

Better than the 9/11 Commission Reports
I kept having to remind myself that I am reading fiction, because this novel is so authentic. From the dsyfunctional CIA that is run by careerist bureaucrats who then have to "outsource" and "offshore" the work to ex-agents, to depictions of what a real Israeli interrogation cell is like on the inside, I found this novel to be excellent. It has the ring of truth to it. I also like it that the ...

Option Delta35 reviews
Richard Marcinko, John Weisman

Pocket, 2000

HOOYAH!
Another outstanding, highly motivational piece of Roguish action from good ol' Demo Dick, my favorite author. I had the pleasure of reading this book right after graduation from the USAF Security Forces Academy at Lackland AFB, TX. In retrospect, it's apropos that the main villain is a German, seeing how Germany is proving to be such an unreliable "ally" in our current War on Terror.

Shadow Warrior/the CIA Hero of a Hundred Unknown Battles4 reviews
Felix I. Rodriguez, John Weisman

Simon & Schuster, 1989

He REALLY hated Castro
Rodriguez reminds us that being anti-Castro does not make him pro-Batista. He's pro-Cuba. The son of a well-to-do doctor who escaped to Miami, Felix has spent his entire life fighting against Castro and his communists. One of the last men to see Che Guevara alive, he said he greatly regretted the man's execution and protested against it. He even relays the ironic anecdote of how a physician ...

Jack in the Box: A Shadow War Thriller8 reviews
John Weisman

William Morrow, 2004

An outstanding work - technically informing and accurate
This was the first time I had read John Weisman's work and I would recommend "Jack in the Box" to anyone who wants a three dimensional chess match to solve. The characters are very well developed and have their flaws, but without the "super-human" characteristics of some other kinds of espionage novels. I would place this book alongside "The Spy Who Came In From The Cold", only for its informative ...

Detachment Bravo14 reviews
Richard Marcinko, John Weisman

Pocket Star, 2002

Move fast, stay low!
Once again, the Marcinko/Weisman duo take the us on a trip with the wild bunch (read Rogue Warrior: The Real Team). And once more, the bad guys get theirs from every direction imaginable and a few that are beyond imagination, in spite of the incompentent leadership at the top. Dirty Dick will warp your mind if you don't move fast, stay low and watch your six! As the author of FADED COLORS, ...
