A really enjoyable book... This book grabs the your attention right from the start and keeps you interested with fast-paced action, entertaining dialogue and a humorous plot. It's the first "Time Warp Trio" book I've read and I really enjoyed it. Sam Samurai 1 review Jon Scieszka
Tandem Library, 2003
Loved it! My son is not reading at this level yet (7 years old) so I read it to him. It's easy and a lot of fun to read. I read to him, at most, 2 chapters a night (chapters are short) and he'd beg me to keep reading! I could get him to finish his homework and get ready for bed quickly if I reminded him about reading "Sam Samurai". When we finished the book he wanted more, so I purchased a couple more in ...

Cowboy and Octopus 10 reviews Jon Scieszka
Viking Juvenile, 2007
Hilarious I love Jon Scieszka's books--we have most of them on my kids' book shelf--but this one is by far my favorite. I think it is the perfect mixture of simplicity, good underlying messeges about friendship, and humor that an adult can appreciate. My daughter loves it too. Lane Smith's illustrations are also fun and unique. Good job, Jon and Lane! Keep them coming!

LA Verdadera Historia De Los Tres Cerditos Le Pigs 10 reviews Jon Scieszka
Live Oak Media, 1991
A Great kids Book the the adult can love also I loved this take on the "Three Little Pigs" as did my kids though for different reasons. My daughter enjoys this book because it is a humorous Wolf's versions of the "Three Little Pigs" her favorite children's classic. I like it because it presented a great sarcastic though honest parady of contemparary Media and American culture. You see according to the wolf, He really didn't mean to blow ...

LA Verdadera Historia De Los Tres Cerditos!/the True Story of the Three Little Pigs 1 review Jon Scieszka
Topeka Bindery, 1999
Is the wolf really innocent? This cleverly written and illustrated picture book gives the wolf's version of events to the classic nursery rhyme. The wolf vehemently proclaims his innocence and evokes reader sympathy as he relays his story, oblivious to the bunny ears in htis cake mixture or the rat body parts hanging from his cheesburger. The wolf says one thing, while the illustrations say another. The traditional rhyme ...

The Stinky Cheese Man 5 reviews Jon Scieszka
Penguin Books (NZ), 2002
Tortured by the Stinky Cheese Man I feel guilty, but it is true. One night before bedtime my 8 year old son Dylan said, "Will you read me a story?" It had been a long day and I was tired so I started in with "Aw, Dylan not tonight....". It was just then he reached under the bed and pulled out the Stinky Cheese Man. Now I had read the Stinky Cheese before so I thought I knew what was coming. He said just relax Mom, and I will ...

Tut Tut (The Time Warp Trio) 16 reviews Jon Scieszka
Scholastic, 1996
The best book ever I give this book five stars because it is very funny. It is also adveturous. The characters in this story (Joe, Fred, Sam) get in a lot of trouble and Sam almost gets eaten by a crocodile. I don't want to say more because I want you to read it for your self. I don't want to spoil the surprise.

Math Curse Have you ever had the math curse? Well, in the book Math Curse, a young boy gets put under the math curse. Squids Will Be Squids (Picture Puffins) 28 reviews Jon Scieszka
Puffin, 2003
Can't say something nice about someone? Make them a squid Those of us who remember Jon Sciezka and Lane Smith as the author and illustrator of "The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs!" will know exactly what they are getting into when they pick up "Squids Will Be Squids: Fresh Morals, Beastly Fables." The thesis here is that even before Aesop a legion of storytellers have told stories about annoying, weird, pain-in-the-neck people, turned them into ...

A reality check for a fairy tale life "The Princess kissed the frog. He turned into a prince. And they lived happily ever after..."
(riiiiiiiight.....whoever conceived such drivel?)
Okay, back to the book.....
"Well, let's just say they lived sort of happily for a long time. Okay, so they weren't so happy. In fact, they were miserable."
Welcome back to reality, oh beloved fairy tale. This one starts out with the ...

Son 8 years old loved it. My son loves to read and loves the series. We watch the TV show all the time (more than once). This comic book style really captivated him. He sat silent during dinner and said nothing until he read the entire book in one seating. I need to get more now!

Guys Write for Guys Read 23 reviews, 2008
Thumbs up from a teacher I teach eighth grade Language Arts, and I'm always on the prowl for books that will engage young boys to read. I picked this up on a whim, and I'm very pleased. This anthology has a little bit of everything in it: fiction, non-fiction, illustrations, cartoon strips -- the works. The shorts cover a wide-range of topics from the silly to the dead-serious. In short, there's something in this ...

Knights of the Kitchen Table 26 reviews Jon Scieszka
Listening Library, 1998
Teacher's Grade: A- I love reading this book aloud to my 2nd grade students. There is abundant humor, a lot of action, and excellent dialogue. The kids especially love the disgusting giant with flatulence issues, and the fire-breathing dragon.
This is an excellent springboard into reading for reluctant but capable boy readers.
