theological reflection framed in personal narrative
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! In fact, I read it in one sitting. Wilson-Hartgrove's message resonates with me powerfully. I must admit that midway through I became a little worried that he was preparing to say the Church's new identity in Messiah is "black", but he more than adequately addresses this idea as the story progresses. Which is another thing I like about the book. It addresses ...

To Baghdad & Beyond - insight into a former student
I bought this book due to the fact that a former high school student of mine wrote it. I was intriqued by the title and wanted to see deeper into what Johnathan had been exploring since leaving high school. An easy read with insight into what it truly means for "new disciples" to follow Christ in the model of Tony Compalo. ("what if Jesus really meant what he said?") Insight into the minds ...

Fresh and helpful
The book brings fresh air to todays christian spirituality and ethics. I think that new monastic communities have a lot to show to the church, like the old monastic tradition, this movement is a reformation of christianity, and can help us to fight the dark age that is raising this violent time. As a member of a community in formation, I really apreciate this book.

Good spirit
This book tries to put in conection the old tradition of St. Benedicts Rule with the contemporary problems that christianity is suffering. I think that it is a good introduction to new monastic life, the authors are members of communities that are trying to live the call of Jesus today. I think that we have a lot to learn about the old wisdom of the church, specially when we want to live as ...

In 1994, the most Christianized country in Africa became the site of its worst genocide. The tragedy was in Rwanda, but what happened was a mirror reflecting the deep brokenness of the church in the West. Yet by looking at what happened and why, we can find hope for the global body of Christ.
