Other people have written much better, and more detailed, reviews of this book, but its true hilarity and power (which I have heard is quite different than the movie, which I've never seen so can't comment on) simply need to be experienced. Hilarious Sleeper
This book is certainly a new take on the Old Testament story of King David. Lots of irreverence and so much that is virtually upside-down. David himself talks to us - a lot - and tells us all.
