A WELCOME OPPORTUNITY TO KNOW THIS GREAT MONK AND RESTORATOR OF OUR GREGORIAN LITURGY
Although the original 1974 French edition of this excellent biography by Dom Louis Soltner is also (and quite rarely) available here upon the amazon as Solesmes & [i.e. et] dom Gueranger, 1805-1875, the exclusively English speaker may rejoice with this version as well, translated by Jospeh O'Connor (the former postulant of Solesmes?) and published sturdily by the great Paraclete Press of ...

Worthy of better than the negative reviews.
I'm sorry, but I just don't get the detractors to this text. With apologies to Pimsleur, learning a language is hard work. OK, if you want to learn how to say, "Hello," or, "Where is the bathroom," try one of the quickie methods, but if you want to be fluent in a conversation, live in Italy, or study there, there is no substitute for struggling with the pedagogy. Maybe there are some of us that ...

"Yeats is dead?" O yes.
Well, of course he is; in fact, has been for some 60+ years now. But that's not the point. The point is, or at least seems to be, that "Yeats Is Dead!" is the unpublished last work of the doyen of Irish literature himself, James Joyce. Or is it? Or are the 600 pages of undecipherable scribble that are at the center of this book's wild ride really the chemical formula for a new anti-ageing skin ...

The best NLP Introduction
I consider myself a dabbler in NLP and have read several books on the topic. Perhaps, "attempted to read" might be a more accurate depiction. I found the works by Bandler and Grinder and the Andreas's very difficult to get through. At the other end of the spectrum, there are other works on NLP or NLP-related techniques that are quite readable but seem geared towards those lacking all self-esteem. ...

Wish I Could Give It Six
First off, as mentioned by another reviewer this is not a "summer reading" book. I agree with that person's comment and don't know why it would be included on a list like that. If you want a piece of summer fluff to read on the beach put this book down immediately and buy something by Sophie Kinsella. That being said, this is a book that you MUST read. It is best read like a scroll and you ...

A book of Grace
In contrast to Pope John Paul II's "theology of body", Cardinal O'connor presents a much simpler, yet as elegant collection of pastoral essays on the true meaning and practices of love and marriage. The books aims at the restoration of Divine Mystery in the avenue of life called "Covenant", which most of our contemporary society has ceased to believe in. A perfect blend of inspired Wisdom and ...

Priceless
How do people communicate? When I say I'm "frustrated" - in a particular context, HOW do YOU understand the exact shading of the word? Of course, you understand (if not colorblind) when I say "Robin's Egg Blue". So what do I mean when I say, "I'm feeling satisified"? How do we learn from birth to use WORDS to express THOUGHTS? Remember when drunken Aunt Mary once embarassed you at a ...

An excellent review of the art and science of medicine
This excellent Australian publication provides the training physician with a great deal of clinical tips whilst keeping specific topics succinct and up-to-date. It is an invaluable accessory to clinical examination, formal teaching and in-depth study. It should also prove useful for undergraduates.

Journey of growth
This is a personal, engaging and satisfying book. The subtitle, "simple strategies to make your relationships work" may be misleading. It is more than that. As it is stated in the preface, "This book is not, however, about how to change or manipulate others into being what you want them to be. Nor is it about trying to fit into other people's expectations regardless of your own point of ...

Gateway to NLP
After more than 25 years, Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP)has not only avoided becoming a passing fad but continued to make substantial contributions to all walks of life. There are dozens, if not hundreds of books published on NLP in numerous languages. For the seriously interested, I usually recommend Joseph O'Connor and Jane Seymour's Introducing NLP. For those who want an initial ...

Honestly, I picked up Joseph O'Connor's 'Sweet Liberty' from Amazon because I wanted to see what kind of social commentary could possibly be written by someone with the dubious distinction of being Miss Sinead O'Connor's brother. I was ready for anything, but not the side-splitting, absolute laughter and insight with which this man looks at Irish history and the uniquely American version(s) ...

Fantastic, Lucid, Finally a tangible NLP Book
Joseph Oconnor is brilliant. His writing is clear, he gets across the ideas and basic absolute fundamental essentials of NLP that many other books take too long or use too complex descriptions are simply aren't clear. Oconnor's writing, and complete understanding of NLP for that matter, is so incredibly well communicated. If NLP is the deep structure to become communicated to the reader ...

I'd love to have a beer with O'Connor !
I purchased this book while on vacation in Ireland. I had never read anything by him but the quick description on the back made me laugh so....thought I'd give it a try. I'm happy to report that the laughter did not stop there. This was a wonderful, entertaining book. I found myself smiling throughout and constantly reading passages aloud to friends. I can't wait to read more by him !

Startling and Atmospheric
Tautly written, with the kind of wry, dark humor that brings you just to edge of acceptance and never lets you go. This is a smashing work, and one of the best "Irish novels" I've read in awhile. Highly recommended. (By the way, does everyone know that the author, Joseph O'Connor, is none other than the brother of the famous Sinead O'Connor Herself! )

Redemption Falls, or Redemption Fails?
Told in the myriad voices of those who bore witness to the events described herein, "Redemption Falls" is at once both historical fiction profiling the Irish experience during and after the American Civil War, and a lugubrious chronicle of the human condition under duress. As a student of the American Civil War, the Emerald Isle's Joseph O' Connor employs the presumed idiom of the period; his ...

Easy to understand. Pertinent information.
I am new to the world of telecommunications, and I found it extremely helpful and informative. The acronymns they use are ones you see in every day telecommunications, and they explain things without going into too much mathimatical jargon (I don't do math). If you only want to purchase one book for reference, I would highly recommend this one.
