A positive children's book for kids and parents too!
What a beautiful and simple way to tell the Bible stories! I loved this book! If you liked "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see" by Bill Martin Jr. and Eric Carle you will love this one even more. "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see" has been my son's favorite book since he was 6months old, now "Adam, Adam, what do you see" will be my second son's favorite. Bill Martin Jr. has a ...

The Maestro Plays4 reviews
Bill Martin Jr

Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 1994

My Kids' Favorite
This book was my daughter's favorite when she was a baby. Now her new little brother has reacted in the same way. Little ones don't often have to patience to sit still while you read every page of a book, but for some reason they find the Maestro so captivating that they request it over and over again. Our little crawler will drag it across the room and plop it in my lap. How can you say ...

The Happy Hippopotami3 reviews
Bill Martin Jr.

Harcourt Children's Books, 1991

We LOVE this book!!
This is a great book to read to antsy kids. My child not only istened, but got very involved with the characters, soon WE were a hippopota-family! Who can resist saying, "Hippopotamama"? The text flows beautifully and the illustrations are playful and just perfect for this tale! If you loved the Happy Hippopotomi, then I wholeheartedly recommend, "The Maestro Plays" also by Bill Martin, Jr.

Even adults never tire of this one!!!
I work in an elementary school with children of all ages and do a ton of babysitting. When I first heard this CD I fell in love with it. Every child that I've introduced to it has also loved it. It's one book/CD even an adult won't get tired of listening to!

Barn Dance11 reviews
Bill, Jr Martin, John Archambault

Perfection Learning Prebound, 1989

Barn Dance!
As an avid square dancer this delightful book captures the joy and thrill of an evening of dancing. I have shared it with my two granddaughters, ages 7 and 4. Although they question why we might dance with the cows and chickens, as shown in the wonderful illustrations, they have a better understanding of what we do at a square dance. My husband is a caller and finds the scarecrow a charming ...

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?312 reviews
Bill Martin Jr., Eric Carle

Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 1983

My son loves it
We bought this book for my 3y.o. son a couple of days ago and he loves it. Though it is very simple compared to what we usually read (he's a big Seuss fan), the pictures are colorful and very creative, and it's a great introduction to animals and colors. Plus, because of it's simple lines and rhymes, it's easy for him to remember and he likes to "read it" himself... as he is interested in ...

Caddie the Golf Dog1 review
Michael Sampson, Bill Martin Jr., ...

Walker Books for Young Readers, 2002

A good book for young animal lovers
An interest in golf and dogs drew us to this book. My boys (ages 9 and 4) love reading it and relate well to loving a pet and having that love returned. It was heartwarming when they brought home the stray dog from the golf course and provided her with a good home. The antics of Caddie's puppies are very true to life. Having the original finder of the stray dog (Jennifer) come at the end to adopt ...

A Beasty Story9 reviews
Bill Martin Jr

Voyager Books, 2002

Wonderful!!!
Our son, 3 1/2, LOVES this book. He is into anything that is scary...but doesn't want to be scared (if that makes sense). Like Scooby Doo...starts off scary, but there is always a reason, nothing supernatural! Terrific illustrations, educational and surprising! Fun book to read for the adults too. The type of book that you notice something new each time you read! Adorable!

Polar Bear and Brown Bear: Two Board Book Bear Set2 reviews

Henry Holt & Company, Inc., 2003

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
Our grandson turned 2 years old November 16, 2005, he loves this book. He can't read (I don't think), but when he picks up Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? He knows what each page has on it and tells us what Red Bird sees.

SOUNDS OF A POWWOW1 review
Jr. Bill Martin

Holt, Rinehart & Winston, 1974

classic primer-pow-pow "wow!"
I found this book at a library over 20 years ago, ordered it after renewing it a "zillion" times for my 4 children. My 4+ granchildren are now memorizing many of the stories and poems, so i am ordering one for each of my children's families. Even I enjoy them over and over again and with Eric Carle illustrations and Bill Martin contributions, it's a classic with us!

Chicka Chicka 1, 2, 3 (Chicka Chicka Boom Boom)23 reviews
Bill Martin Jr, Michael Sampson

Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, 2004

Great introduction to two digit numbers
This is a good book for little ones to learn two digit numbers. Once they know their single digit digit numerals then it helps with the teen numbers and onward in a similar rhyming style as the first Chicka Chicka ABCs book.

Aladdin, 2000

Educatioal and Well Written
What a FUN book! My two-year-old son loves this book and I love to read it to him. The words have a great cadence and I find myself singing each page! The pictures are very primitive which is nice (no sensory overload) and it helps young children to learn their alphabet. The story is super cute and the author uses great imagery. Although the illustrations are primitive, you can imagine these ...

Sounds of Laughter1 review
Jr. Bill Martin, Peggy Brogan

Winston, 1974

Good fun
This is one from a set of California State Series books by Bill Martin, Jr. It's a compilation of stories and pictures that kids enjoy. I grew up with these and loved them. Some of the pictures were strange and some were simple but most of them were really enjoyable and I have fond memories of all the series. This particular one has the following stories and pictures in it: LIsten, Listen, a ...

Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?49 reviews

Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 1991

Introducing animals and their sounds
I bought this book together with "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" a couple of days ago, and my 3y.o. kid loves them both. My son helps me read out loud and is learning complicated words like "boa constrictor". It's very simple and great for introducing new animals and new words (such as "roaring" or "hissing"), we have a lot of fun reading it together every day.

I Pledge Allegiance4 reviews

What Our Pledge Really Means.....
Every morning millions of children stand and face the flag, place their hands over their hearts, and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. But what do these 31 words really mean? Bill Martin Jr. and Michael Sampson have taken the pledge apart, and explained each word (pledge: A pledge is a promise), or phrase (one nation: Our states and territories have bonded together to form one nation. Exciting new spin on Brown Bear, Brown Bear
Review by Sherry North, Author, Because You Are My Baby This book follows the same pattern as the classic Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? but with an exciting new spin -- exotic, endangered animals. It also has a delightful surprise ending that makes it perfect for a bedtime story.

Chicken Chuck5 reviews
Bill, Jr. Martin

Topeka Bindery, 2001

A Classic Delight
This whimsical charmer hearkens back to the Golden Age of children's books. The story is simple yet involving with a barnyard-full of engaging characters. The book really shines in its beautifully-drawn illustrations that recall the best of 40's and 50's picturebooks. Boldly composed double-page spreads, they're elaborate and humorous and delighted my daughter. This is an unusually well ...
