Puffin, 2008
Great book for Ages 4-6 I'm a huge fan of this author/illustrator team, and this book is another great one. The concept is very clever and engaging. I enjoy reading it almost as much as my daughter loves hearing it.

The Gruffalo (Picture Books) 5 reviews Julia Donaldson
Dial, 2005
One of the best childrens books you will find! Our friends from the UK highly recommended this book as it received the British Smarties award. I have to say my 2 and 4 year old absolutely love this book. At the age of three my daughter had memorized this entire book and the clever rhyming. It is a wonderful story and you will not be disappointed.

The Gruffalo 15 reviews Julia Donaldson
Dial, 2005
Hands Down One of the Best Children's Books This is seriously one of the best children's books out there. The writing and rythym are fluid and the story line is very captivating.
I have a 4 year-old faux-niece that I read to relatively often. I will read anything she asks, but this is one book that I ask to read to her.
The book is good for kids of all ages. The story is fun to hear and can have a deeper meaning when the kid is ...

The Gruffalo's Child 13 reviews Julia Donaldson
Puffin, 2007
Hilarious sequel to the Gruffalo - the big bad mouse is back This is the gorgeous sequel to Julia Donaldson's amazing and imaginative story, the Gruffalo. If you thought she couldn't top The Gruffalo - then think again. Again, this has been ably illustrated by the amazing Axel Scheffler - whose pictures of the Gruffalo cave and gruffalo toys had my kids in fits of laughter even before the story began.
Again the amazing rhyme and rhythm which Donaldson ...

The Snail and the Whale Big Book 29 reviews Julia Donaldson
Macmillan Children's Books, 2007
Love it! My family is very fond of all of Julia Donaldson's books, but The Snail and the Whale is our very favorite. Axel Sheffler's illustrations are whimsical (My son has noticed that most of the insects he draws have noses)and beautiful. I am especially fond of its rhyming, making it a delight to read. Most of all, I love the messages it contains. One of which is that the world is vast and ...

Night Monkey Day Monkey (Book & CD) 6 reviews Julia Donaldson
Egmont UK, 2008
A great story about different views of the world Our 4 year old daughter loves this story of 2 monkeys each experiencing the other's world - the day monkey wakes the night monkey during the day and explains away the night monkey's fear of the unusual things he normally wouldn't see during the day as he's usually asleep, and vice versa. The rhyming text is entertaining and lovely to read and the hard board material should endure plenty of wear ...

Sharing a Shell 3 reviews Julia Donaldson
Macmillan Children's Books, 2005
A glittery experience This is one of those books that you see in the bookstore and think...mmmm - "a bit gimmicky". It even comes with a sticker that states "there's glitter on every page". Now this is a sure-fire way to catch your little one's attention but in my experience this type of book is not destined to become a classic in children's literature. Having said that however, I reluctantly bought this book as my ...

Where's My Mom? 1 review Julia Donaldson
Dial, 2008
Get the British version We are huge fans of Julia Donaldson's books, having been introduced by friends in the UK. And honestly, we can't understand why the US publisher insists on changing Julia Donaldson's titles and text to "American-ize" it. The British versions are far more lyrical and rhythmic. Is "Where's My Mom?" truly a better title than "Monkey Puzzle?" Does the publisher really think we need to translate ...

Fish Who Cried Wolf 3 reviews Julia Donaldson
Arthur A. Levine Books, 2008
Fabulous Book to Share With Your Child My son got this book for his 3rd birthday, and it quickly became both his and my favorite. The story is a cute one -- a little fish named Tiddler tells elaborate stories about why he's late to school every day. Then one day he is caught in a fisherman's net and then lost in the ocean. Then he hears someone telling one of his tall tales, and he traces his own story back home.
The book rhymes ...

Tyrannosaurus Drip (Book & CD) 1 review Julia Donaldson
Macmillan Digital Audio, 2008
The whimsical illustrations add the perfect touch to this delightful dino-adventure. Tyrannosaurus Drip is a charming children's picturebook about a conflict between dinosaurs. The peaceful, plant-eating duckbill dinosaurs live across the river from the ferocious, meat-eating T-Rexes. And what the T-Rexes want to eat most is duckbill dinosaur meat! When a duckbill egg hatches in a T-Rex nest, the little duckbill named Drip finds that he just can't adapt to their carnivorous ways. ...

Another lovely book for you AND the kids to read Julia Donaldson manages to write compelling rhymes which are easily read aloud and enjoyed by Adults and children. In this great fun book Tiddler is a small fish in a school with Miss Skate - but he is always late and always with a big excuse. Unfortunately one day there really IS a problem, a man with a net.
Axel Sheffler gets to let his wonderful illustrations run riot for the underwater ...

A Squash and a Squeeze Big Book 3 reviews Julia Donaldson
Macmillan Children's Books, 2007
Fun to read to kids, but also great for small stage shows This is a great book - hilarious morality tale which children can understand, wonderful rhymes and beautifully illustrated too.
In this an old woman is complaining about how crowded her house is, it is in fact "A squash and a squeeze". She goes to an old man, who gives her some 'good advice' about taking in her farm animals until at last she throws them all out - and now she feels like she has ...

Monkey Puzzle Book and Tape (Book & Tape) 2 reviews Julia Donaldson
Macmillan Audio Books, 2003
Avid Book reader This book is fantastic! My son absolutely loves this story and we read it every night before going to bed. The story is about the monkey who loses his mom. His friend, the butterfly, offers to help monkey find his mother. The butterfly asks the monkey to describe his mother and for every description, leads the monkey to an animal-unfortunately not his mother but another animal-the elephant, the ...
