The Lives of the Athletes
This book was filled with humorous, little-known trivia andanecdotes about famous sports figures. I was especially impressedwith the wide variety of athletes that were included-Sir Edward Hillary, Bruce Lee, Gertrude Ederle, and Babe Didrickson Zaharias to name a few. As a classroom tool, this book is tops! Students in my class were entranced and could hardly wait to learn more about the other ...

Hilarious!
Hi! I read this book for facts for a report I had to do. The covers really hooked me in by the funny pictures! It had great information, but I would read another book also if you wanted to report on the lesser-known presidents!

Sunflower House
Beautiful pictures. I read this book to my 3 & 4 year old sons. They thought it was really neat so we planted a sunflower house that spring. Even my 9 yr old son wanted in on the project. It was a great way to introduce not only the wonders of the plant growth process but also the responsibilty of caring for things that grow.

GREAT for kids - first exposure to composers tough for little ones
My daughter's piano teacher gave her the assignment to read about Mozart as she started her first Mozart Minuet. My daughter was 7 at the time, and although she was reading at above 3rd grade level, I was shocked to find that there was NOTHING available on the internet or in her school library that give her information on composers at HER level. I finally found "Lives of the Musicians" and have ...

What a fun, fun, book.. is it really for children?
I found this book in the children's section of the library, but this is not a children's book; although children might enjoy it. This book is very reminiscent of the "Politically Incorrect Bedtime Stories" series. It's a wonderfully campy little book full of facts about just how bizarre artists are. It would make a great coffee table book. I just loved it! I can't wait to read the companion book ...

Lives of the Writers is a fun, informative book....
This book is a fun and informative book. The pictures are filled with humorous meanings and hidden information. The book keeps the reader's attention by keeping the included information short and simple, but also makes sure that the reader gets as much possible about the author. This book is great for kids and students to use as a report source as it is filled with great information. Kids ...

Great introduction to Shakespearian comedy
This is a wonderful adaptation of one of Shakespeare's lighter works... Richly detailed artwork accompanies a brisk, skillful prose adaptation of this broad farce of mistaken identity and misplaced love... An ideal entry point for younger readers, one of several fine adaptations by Bruce Coville.

Love it
A friend brought LIVES OF EXTRAORDINARY WOMEN to a huge Thanksgiving feast; the book was never put down, it was constantly being read by one or another parent, teenager, or was being read to a younger daughter. I was surprised by the vehemently negative review posted here, and it made me delay my order by one day. But in the end, I ordered it -- actually, I ordered two. I find this book to be ...

This book is fabulous
I am a student teacher in a three year old preschool classroom. We recently planted mums outside our window, and afterwards read this story to the children. They loved the beautiful pictures and the contrast between the city flowerbox and our daycare garden.

MRCS Revision Guide
The second most useful MRCS textbook with a particularly good anatomy section, although still you always need a separate anatomy book in addition. Garner in my opinion is number 1 but this guide is also a must without a doubt. Its a very useful and essential read and divided appropriately for the respective sections of the viva exam. 5/5.
