The Interregnum: Controversies in World Politics 1989-1999

Cambridge University Press, 2000

We are living in an era which seemingly defies description: in social and political theory, our age is frequently referred to as "postmodern;" in international relations, we remain in the "post-Cold War" age. The age is only characterized by what it is not. This collection of critical reflections, written by leading scholars in the field, will shed light on the meanings of world politics in what we are calling The Interregnum.

ASP.NET 3.5 For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech))2 reviews
Ken Cox

For Dummies, 2008

A great enjoyable read
I am an experienced developer so I only expected to skim over the book to get familiar with any of the new asp.net 3.5 features. I found myself reading every word of every page because the book was actually "entertaining". The writing is very smooth and easy to understand. You feel as if a really good teacher who knows how to relate to people is talking to you. I was also surprised how deep ...

ASP.NET 2.0 All-In-One Desk Reference For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech))5 reviews
Doug Lowe, Ken Cox, ...

For Dummies, 2006

Very Impressed
My company throws different projects in my lap and I have to scramble to learn new technology in order to meet the deadline. I was very impressed on how this book helped set up things I needed in Asp.net. Easy to find things and very easy to follow with plain explanations. ANd, with C++ and VB reference, I was very pleased. It might not have ALL the answers, but no book ever does. As a ...

Empires, Systems and States: Great Transformations in International Politics1 review

Cambridge University Press, 2002

offers historical perspective
The authors explore various possibilities for the future of the nation state. Is it even possible for empires to now exist? Or might nations fragment into ever smaller entities? The book tries to put a long historical perspective on these and other questions. There is reference to the Treaty of Westphalia, which is commonly considered to demarcate the rise of modern Europe as a collection of ...

A basic, practical, "user friendly" introduction
Sams Teach Yourself Object Oriented Programming with Visual Basic.NET in 21 Days by progamming expert Richard Simon is specifically focused on mastering the basic concepts as well as teaching beginning to intermediate level users how to apply OOP concepts in the new version of Visual Basic. How Might We Live? Global Ethics in the New Century

Cambridge University Press, 2001

This volume looks outward to the new century and to the dynamics of this first truly global age. It asks the fundamental question: how might human societies live? The contributors believe that there is nothing more political than ethics. By exploring in the newest context some of the oldest questions about duties and obligations within and beyond humanly constructed boundaries, the essays help us ponder the most profound question in world ...

.NET Mobile Web Developer's Guide1 review
Steve Milroy, Ken Cox, ...

Syngress, 2002

Couple of gems, the rest are rocks!
Reviewing books is a very subjective process. The review is colored by personal reaction as your level of expertise runs up against who the authors and the editors expected as the prospective audience for the book. Given that my level of knowledge differs from another person who may be interested in a book, I will try to provide as much info as I can so that an interested party can make their own ...

The Rutland Dirty Weekend Book2 reviews
Eric Idle

Mandarin, 1976

I will leave my husband for Eric Idle!!
Okay, okay, maybe I won't go THAT far, but what a wonderful Idle book! First chapter (Vatican Sex Manual) has all sorts of wonderful pictures from the 70's. The naughty parts are (regrettably or not) covered in all pictures, so, if it was a movie, I would say it's a hard R rather than an X. But a must-have for any Idle fan.
