A Place Called Freedom
As always, another one of Ken Follett's books that I loved. This book takes you back to Scotland in the 1700's. Even though the book may have had some predictable parts, it was hard to put this book down. The story begins in the coal mines of Scotland and takes you through a beautifully told story of love, lust, greed and envy. A must read for all of Ken Follett fans.

The Key to Rebecca45 reviews
Ken Follett

NAL Trade, 2003

As always can not put the book down
Every Ken Follett novel I have read so far has been outstanding. The Key to Rebecca is no exception. This book centers around a spy in the 1940's in Cairo named Alex Wolff. Through most of the book, all of the characters are very likeable. But keep reading, and the story takes a drastic turn. The book is fast paced. It is full of mystery, suspense, and romance. The book keeps you guessing ...

The Man From St. Petersburg40 reviews

HISTORY & SUSPENSE
This is what I want in a novel! I learned quite a bit about a "slice" of history that I knew very little about before: primarily London just before WW1 and, to a lesser extent, a sample of heinous cruelty delegated by many of the Russian 'nobility' (1895). For readers who prefer to sort of whet their appetites before diving into extensive historical studies, this presents the best of both ...

This Needle is Very Sharp
After recently finishing, and greatly enjoying, Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth (Deluxe Edition) (Oprah's Book Club), I was determined to finally read Eye of The Needle. This book has been on my list of must reads for over 5 years. Thank goodness I finally read the book. The Eye of the Needle is a thoroughly enjoyable read with great characters; especially uber-villain Dae Nadel. ...

Truly a book you can't set down..
This was a great book, I enjoyed it a lot, there are some books I can read in the train, and just continue it day after day, and there are books like these, where I just have to finish it, and once I do, just wish there was more.. Very interesting, described vivid images.. loved it..

An impossible mission, sucesssfully accomplished
An Israeli agent is ordered by his government to obtain radioactive materials so Israel could build its own bomb. The bosses don't know where and how to get it. The agent should figure it out by himself. To make matters worse, he should steal the stuff in a way no one would ever suspect Israel has the materials. Of course, the bad guys and the Americans are also around, to complicate the plot ...

World Without End341 reviews
Ken Follett

Dutton Adult, 2007

What a marvelous book!
World Without End exceeded my expectations. The story takes place two centuries after its predecessor, Pillars of the Earth. The location is the same, the village of Kingsbridge, in England. Mr. Follet has created marvelous, believable characters to carry his story of building bridges, romances, serfdom, and the horror of the Plague. Like Pillars of the Earth, I was again sorry to finally read ...

Night Over Water57 reviews

Quite a Suspenseful Flight...Follett is a Master!
Having finished Pillars of the Earth and World Without End, I rediscovered Follett after having read Eye of the Needle eons ago. Night Over Water is as well constructed a story as you'll find. He introduces the cast of characters so well, that when the flight commences and the personalities meet, the mystery and spice pull you in. Tighten your seat belt, this one is going to be a turbulent ...

Paper Money10 reviews
Ken Follett

Suprising insight and depth
This is the first Ken Follett I have read and I understand it is an early effort. This novel is a wonderful invocation of London and various types that were around in the late 60s and early 70s. In a short space it paints a rich canvass of characters and has a very clever plot. The insight into characters and "the way things work" is sharp and the sex is well handled without becoming prurient. I ...

Lie down With Lions
About 20 years ago in Paris, a CIA agent from America called John Ellis is undercover and living with an Englishwoman named Jane Lambert. At first it was just so he could fit in more, but after a while they started to fall in love. He wanted to propose to her, but decided to wait until after his "assignment" was over. There's another man named Jean-Pierre who is also in love with Jane. ...

Pillars of The Earth by Ken Follett2 reviews
Ken Follett, 1989

A "Desert Island Book"
I read this one about 15 years ago, and have now read it a third time. It never weakens. I have heard this novel was challenging for Follett because he does not believe in God. I don't either, but I found the humility and devotion of its protagonists to be wholly believable and endearing. I could not help but fall in love with Aliena, nor could I suppress my admiration for Tom, Phillip, and ...

Whiteout132 reviews

Signet, 2005

Not the best of Ken Follett
I've read a lot of Ken Follett, and Whiteout I'd rate at the second to worst of his books. Not that's it's bad, thus the three stars, but it's almost written in an amateurish style...very predictable characters, predictable plot, but still well-written and entertaining. Quick read.

First rate thriller
A very exciting and well-wriiten book. I couldn't put it down till I have finished the last line. While it is true that two EDS employees were rescued and smuggled out of Iran, the details were obtained from EDS men and Poss Perot. Whether they were completely true and authentic is an open question. Thus far, I have not heard from anyone challenging the facts. Mr Follett, you did an ...

NOVELA HISTORICA!

The Third Twin139 reviews

Top of the line Follett
I was sad to see the negative reviews aimed at this book because of the right-wing politics of the bad guys. The actual aims and accomplishments of the trio go far beyond currently accepted politics. For instance, the bad guys protect and encourage a person given to multiple rapes and assaults, and the presidential candidate supports forced sterilization of welfare recipients. If you can deal ...

Delightful
Why all the negative reviews??? A delightful little mystery, written when he was still an unknown, and I think originally published under some other name? Of course you cannot compare this little book (a short one) with the best of the best sellers today, but you must remember it was written many years ago. Put yourself in 1986 or whenever this was written when you read it. Fans of Ken ...

Ken Follett - hammer of Eden
A very interesting, and quite novel, approach to mystery writing. Ken Follet is one of my favorite authors who never fails to create interesting characters, establish great tension and suspense, and leave you with a few surprises. This was a very interesting read.
